?Things We Said Today? is one of the more adventurous tracks on the album because it seems to have a more sombre feel to it, as if looking back at the past isn?t always a forgiving experience. The harsh strumming on the guitar gives a real bluesy type feel to the track as well and emphasises McCartney?s very clear vocal effort.
Going back into Lennon territory, ?When I Get Home? is really in stark contrast with the un-muddled sounds of ?Things We Said Today?. Advantages: Funny at times. Will Ferrell! Disadvantages: Seems to drag at times. I wasn't hooked.
I bought this film on the off chance in Tesco three days ago. I was quite excited because Will Ferrell is one of my favourite actors and this is one of the few Ferrell films I have not yet seen. I decided to watch it last night with my sister as we were in the mood for a comedy and a Will Ferrell film seemed like the perfect choice!
The beginning of the film was fairly average, kid has not seen his dad in years, then his dad shows up, wasted, for career day. We are introduced to the main character - Ricky Bobby. Ricky is one of the best drivers in NASCAR history. His best friend is called Cal and his wife is called Carley. To be honest, the story sort of confused me. of the man, it instead centres around the people who work at the Ambassador hotel and the people running his campaign.
I had high hopes for this film, it has an all star cast and there must surely be a lot to tell about Bobby Kennedy. However I came away feeling disappointed. I have learned nothing about the man I didn't already know. Perhaps it should have been more clearly stated that this is not a biopic about the man himself but more a reflection of the turbulent times that he lived in. There is no information about the assassin or his motivation. He just appears at the end and shoots, end of story.
The characters in the film are fictional, the film switches between their mostly unrelated stories, it's hard to care about any of them. The dialogue is far too scripted and contrived and comes across as very forced.
