...my favourite japanese bands. NIL is their second full album and it is completely different from the first which is amazing, because some bands are generic. I will try not to be biased at all, but NIL is a brilliant and perfect album. The music and songs are just 100% brilliance. Not to mention they are incredibly good looking.
Line up:
Ruki (Vocals)
Uruha (Guitar)
Aoi (Guitar)
Reita (Bass)
Kai (Drums) ...they saved it for the last.

About: Gazette or actually known as The GazettE was formed in 2002. Under PSCompany with other bands such as Kagrra, and alicenine. The GazettE is my favourite japanese bands. NIL is their second full album and it is completely different from the first which is amazing, because some bands are generic. I will try not to be biased at all, but NIL is a brilliant and perfect album. The music and songs are just 100% brilliance. Not to mention they are incredibly good looking.
Line up: Ruki (Vocals) Uruha (Guitar) Aoi (Guitar) Reita (Bass) Kai (Drums)
Songs: 1.: THE END: It's a song to get you going, cute engrish and it's quite addictive, though it's only 2 mins and 10 secs of repetition, it's good. Gets you in the Gazerock mode.
2.: Nausea And Shudder: Rock intro, great guitar playing, awesome bass. Drums are banging perfect beats. The song is rock but changes to a more ballad style. It's really well done, the song is like flawless. It gets the adrenaline going. Ruki goes so much passion and the backing vocals by the rest is so beautiful.
3.: Bath Room: This is a sad song, and Ruki shows it, it is about his mother. He delivers some powerful emotions. I love how the song starts with water dripping and this symphonic music and drum beats join in. Then the guitars give a melodic entry to the song, Ruki comes in. The chorus is pretty and the backing vocals is so fitting. I've seen Ruki perform this live and gahh, it was so emotional...
4.: Maggots: Uruha and Aoi plays some crazy riffs to start. This song is one you join in with and head bang. Ruki sings so quick and well. It's amazing. It's a rock and fun song.
5.: Namaatatakai Ame To Zaratsuita Jyounetsu: The lyrics of this song is pretty. Ruki's vocal skills are unlimited. He can perform well even with little music at parts.
6.: DLN: Dark, Long, Night. The acoustic guitar sets the whole mood, it's beautiful and the drums gives a grounding beat. Ruki comes in, his voice is deep and the backing vocals is so pretty. This is the ballad song. It's really emotional, it can get laborious when the children in the background, in the chorus keep on singing "song of the sheep/ dark long night".
7.: SHADOW VI III: Great bass and drum intro. The guitar delivers a stylish intro. It's a nice rock song, with a lot of style, the guitar screeches in the oh so cool fashion. When Aoi comes in with the acoustic guitar, the mood changes and Ruki comes in with a sexy high voice. Then the song goes rock again:
8.: Baretta: I love the intro of this, so calm and Ruki can sing anything, high or low he gives it his all. I love the talking singing part in the beginning, the guitars play an accompany tune. The guitars solo is awesome in the middle and really catchy.
9.: Cassis: This is like a festive Xmas song, the guitars are astounding. Uruha's solo is great and performed with style. Aoi's solo in the end of the song is so elegant. This song is a real beauty.
10.: SILLY GOD DISCO: This is a funky disco song, indie disco is cool! Ruki sings in a microphone and still sounds great. This is a fun and happy song, the trumpets are awesome in this. The engrish is sooo cute.
11.: DISCHARGE: Ruki growls and the song starts, the guitars, bass and drum give a cool intro. There's swearing in this. This song is a head bang song, great fun. The vocals is crazy, it's screamy.
12.: Taion: My favourite song, I could rant a page about how great this song is. The intro is beautiful, the lyrics is beautiful, Ruki's engrish is kind of understand. The guitars give an awesome performance through. The chorus is gah, so perfect, Ruki is such an emotional singer. It's just the best song and the GAZEMEN knew that so they saved it for the last.
Overall: Nil is the perfect starter album for a new Gazette fan, it's got a great selection of songs! It's originality is superb, they write everything by themselves, you will be astounded by it.
Advantages: Great tracks, both very heavy and lighter at times. Disadvantages: none
This is a very good album, and was worth the hassle to find. The elements are all combined when necessary and are apart when needed to add a certain style and flair that makes every Gazette release different. A recommended listen - fans of Visual Kei will surely not be disappointed, and fans of general rock may find something new that is worth their time.
This album is a good start to get to know The Gazette.
They display a lot of talent, that ...
