I heard about this album from my friend about 2 weeks ago when I was talking about Dookie. As you may have read on my other op. it says that I thought Dookie was Green Day's best album. I was way wrong. This has to be it.
With the most numbered tracks for a green day album (18) this album is jam packed with amazing tracks. This album has my favourite tracks from Heavy metal in 'Platypus (I hate you)' to the soft but cool song 'Time of your life'.
This album has the best bass guitar playing and the coolest words heard on any green day album. The lyrics go from the 'King for a day' song where he talks about dressing up like a woman, from 'The Grouch' where he talks about being an old man and where the world's been screwing him over.
The tracks go like this:
1: Nice guys finish last : This song is a good start for Nimrod. It's not too heavy but not soft like a britney spears song where all you want to do is hit her one more time to shut her up! This song has some good lyrics along with a good bass and drum beats to start you tapping the table with a pencil.
2: Hitchin a ride : Have to say this is one of my favourite Green Day songs. This has amazing bass which weirdly sounds like the start of the Tweenies...... or so I was told. The lyrics like
all of them are good with him talking about getting drunk and hitchin a ride to happy hour. This is one the sounds you will fall in love with the more you listen to it.
3: The Grouch : This is a really good fast song with offensive but funny lyrics. This is one of the songs you can make out about 10 of the words and one of them is..... lets just let you find out. This song is really catchy and the more you listen to it the more you'll like it.
4: Redundant : This is one of the slow songs on the nimrod albums but still one of the good ones. The bass is good with plays well with the lyrics. This is a good song and is another that will be perminatly in your favourite Green Day songs after you listen to it a lot.
5: Scattered : This is one of the faster tracks on Nimrod with some really good lyrics and a great tune. The chorus is very catchy and you'll have you singing it again and again in the shower or walking down the street. This is one of my favourite and a favourite with most of my friends.
6: All the time : This has to be my favourite track on Nimrod. It has the best tune and the best lyrics on the album. The bass is amazing with the drums finishing it off to make this the best song ever. This is quite heavy compared to the other tracks on the album and the bit where the guitar is on it's own with the drums is fantastic. This is why Nimrod is the best.
7: Worry Rock : I really like this track. This is quite soft with a kind of 80's style to it. This is definitly another of my favourite which I suprisingly didnt like at first but love now. The lyrics are quite good with the chorus very catchy.
8: Platypus (I hate you) : Even form the title you can tell what kind of song this is going to be like, and you'd be right. The lyrics to this song aren't printed in the cover because they are too offensive. This is a very heavy song which you cant hear any to hardly any of the words, but the ones you can hear are swearing for sure! Not one of my favourite but still ok. Put this on if you are in a bad mood!
9: Uptight : When this song started off I wasnt to sure about this song. But the more I listened to it I loved it. This song has the best chorus in the world "Uptight, I'm a nag with a gun". This is one of my favourite Green Day songs and the reason this album is as good as it is.
10: Last ride in : This track is an instrumental just added at the end of the recording session of Nimrod. This is a really easy-listening track and has a really good tune with lots of instruments playing in it.
11: Jinx : This track is good but a bit offensive. This track is kind of like the grouch but with a completly different tune..... I dont know either.
12: Haushinka : This is another of my favourite and it starts with the end of Jinx added on to it. It's all about this girl with a weird name that he was too scared to ask out then she moved. This song is really good once you learn the lyrics and is a really great listen.
13: Walking alone : Dont let the start of this song put you off. Just cause it sounds like folk music doesnt mean it isnt good. This is a really good song with the harmonica played very well. This does sound like a prison song but is still good.
14: Reject : I really like this song and it's very catchy. This is all about him rejecting a girl cause she was so sad. The lyrics are really good and it's a very catchy song. This is a really good song to cheer you up easily.
15: Take back : This song is really horrible with the lyrics like something out of Slipknot or something. Which means you cant hear them. This song is crap.
16: King for a day : This is kinda of a little kiddies song with the tune like a circus feel to it. The lyrics are really good with him talking about being a woman. This is a funny song.
17: Time of your life : This is a really good song and loved by most people. This is a really slow song but still one of my favourites. Honestly, this was the song that got me into Green Day.
18: Prosthetic Head : This is another slow one to finish with and is a good listen with good lyrics. This is another of Green Day's best and is an asset to the album.
Overall this album is amazing. The lyrics, the tracks, the bass everything. This has to be the best album around. Go out now and buy it. This should make you love Green Day.

what can i say cept i luv this album and as for take back I feel it sorta gives a sniff of the old punky greenday before Dookie bounced them into mainstream. Oh and i'm sure i'm not the only 'day fan that hates S**pk**t and there name being associated with the excelence that is greenday

Great op, although only a full brain transplant will make me like Green Day!

Just my 10c worth - I agree with the op - very good album! One of the few cassettes to make it into the car. Simon
