...*** ME AND THIS CD *** To be honest, I bought this CD unintentionally. One night in 2006, at a local music store in Seoul, South Korea, I was looking for a legendary Jacques Brel's song called Ne Me Quitte Pas (Do Not Leave Me) when I saw this CD. I knew some songs of Nina before, such as Feeling Good, My Baby Just Cares for Me, and Mississipi Goddam, but I didn't know at the time that Nina sings Ne Me Quitta Pas too. My God! Nina sings Ne Me Quitte Pas! Without any doubt, I bought this CD along with other Nina's: The Very Best of Nina Simone the Colpix Years (2 CDs/ EMI). Several days later, a famous female Indonesian novelist, Asma Nadia (who was stayed in Seoul at the time) gave me another Nina Simone album: The Very Best of Nina Simone (© 2000, Universal Music). Advantages: A great Selection of Miss Nina's songs
Disadvantages: Doesn't inclde the song "Mr Bojangles"

...This is almost the perfect Nina Simone album. It's perfection is tarnished by the fact that it doesn't include the song "Mr Bojangles. Luckily, the plethora of other songs can nearly make up for this. The album features the well known songs such as Felling Good, My Baby Just Cares for Me and I put a spell on you. The Album incorporates the pleasing vocals as well as many of the instrumental sections of her songs. Not only does Nina Simone Gold feature Miss Nina's songs as we are accustomed to them, it also provides some at first surprising but interesting remixes of Feeling Good and See Line Woman. In addition Nina Simone Gold feature some of the less common songs such as Tell Me More And More And Then Some, One September Day and I'm Going Back Home. Nina Simone Gold is not just for fans, it's for anyone that likes good music... Read review

...Nina Simone is one of those musical artists whoes voice is instantly recognisable. This album, 'The Very Best Of Nina Simone' is a solid, well organised CV of her musical achievements. She is one of those artists who, until you recieve an album like this, you forget had so many brilliant songs. The three tracks that leap off the 20 long song list for me are arguably three of the best American soul tracks ever. Firstly, of course, the magical 'Feeling Good' - a song that cannot be ignored. It is a pure soul track, a song that moulds the listener into a somber but content mood to begin with, then has them up on their feet singing as load as they can by the end.
