Love her, or hate her, Dido is here to stay. Her amazing "No angel" album has gone 4 times platinum, which is a remarkable achievement for a debut release.
Dido first appeared on the Sliding doors soundtrack, ages ago. Her song "Thank you" was on the soundtrack. Next, Eminem jumped on the Dido bandwagon, and sampled the same song in his Stan song, last Christmas. This then led to her first release as a solo artist with "Here with me", which led to "Thank you" as a release, and gained a wider recognition.
So, what is this album really like? Well, each track has a unique sound, but they are all recognisable as Dido songs. The songs are twinged with folk harmonies and go from the very upbeat to the almost sad songs.
Here is my low down on the tracks. lalala
01 - *Here with me* Her first single, and its a grower, that’s for sure. When I first heard it, I must admit, I not was too fond of it, because its a bit depressing. To be honest, it makes a good opening song, but its not an amazing song. However, it may well be your cup of tea, if you're into something a little more slow and thoughtful.
02 - *Hunter* This is the latest single, and defiantly one of the best songs on the album. Its positive and uplifting, what else could you want of a song. It’s about her wanting to leave a lover who ties her down.
03 - *Don't think of me* Hmm. a So-so song. It’s a song about how an old boyfriend is with another girl, and he shouldn’t think of her. Not great, but alright. Background music, this is what this song is.
04 - *My lovers gone* Very depressing! That’s all I can say on this account. Her voice sounds amazing, but the song is tres sad. Its about a lover who has passed away. Oh, its enough to make you want to cry.
05 - *All you want* Defiantly one of the best tracks on the album. Its certainly an album track, and wouldn’t be released as a single, but it rocks. It’s very upbeat, and shows off her vocal talents. It all blended together nicely.
06 - *Thank you* Well, I’m sure you've all heard this one. It defiantly sounds better as a single rather than a measly sample on Eminems "deep" song. Its beautiful and yet catchy, but not in the annoying sense. I love the video for it too, where the people knock down her house - poor Dido.
07 - *Honestly ok* A good, bog standard Dido song. Not one of the best, not one of the worst. Hardly memorable.
08 - *Slide* ooh, I like this one. Its quite deep, and the lyrics are tres good for it
09 - *Isobel* Well, this had to be my favourite didn’t it!? Its mon name after all. Its a grower. Oh, I just love it how I have a song with my name. But, its catchy, and yet quite sad. Better than Isobel by Bjork anyway. No way is it a song which could be released, but its good none the less.
10 - *I’m no angel* This sums up the album title. It is quite different to the other tracks. It really gets stuck in your head, thats for sure.
11 - *My life* yeah, you could skip this one. Its a bit repetitive. More background music.
Bonus track - *Take my hand* ooh, this one is good. It starts off with just dido’s voice...and then the drums come in, and its so good! Really dancing and fab.
Well, all in all this album is fantabulous. if that was a word, it would be it anyway. Plus, if you put it in your computer, it brings up photos and videos, wow, bonus. Plus the special edition version has a nice silvery cover! Well, one last thing - BuY It! or I'll chase you round the garden with a big stick.

I have been thinking about buying this album for a very long time; you have confirmed me to do so, even though it's a tad old now! Thanks Chris

You have done an outstanding album great justice here. How did he do what she did? No British artists try to crack America first. She did and succeeded. Excellent op. Darren.
Advantages: Great consistency of high quality-lyrics, a few styles incorporated, contains some excellent moments in music history (namely the 'Stan' excerpt) Disadvantages: A few weak tracks, some tracks are nearly identical to others, sounds boring first-time through, no positive thoughts
