NoLine On The Horizon
The perfect opening track for an album like this. Starts off like a fly through the clouds in dawn greeting a new day. That's how I feel about this song. The verses are the key point in this song. The chorus is also very catchy. Pure U2'ness.
Magnificent
This is probably the best song off the album. That angry and poppy intro doesn't prepare you for what comes next. Melodic layers of guitar while Bono yells 'Magnificent', probably describing their new album. The verses are very beautiful and the lyrics just phenomenal.
Moment Of Surrender
This song was the hardest for me to like but I do now, after some good sessions of listening. It has that definitive feel of their Joshua's Tree crossed with Achtung Baby. The bass is very beautiful. The best thing about ...
Advantages: Some cracking songs, a good mix of classic U2 and new ideas Disadvantages: Bono's terrible lyrics
?The right to appear ridiculous is one that I hold dear?, so wails Bono on U2?s latest album ?NoLine on the Horizon?. Indeed, and one he would appear to exploit to the full at any given opportunity. Bono, or rather Paul Hewson as I prefer to call him as I feel his alter ego is absurd for a man of his years, is someone I find quite perplexing and really rather irritating. But what I find irritating is that while his pomposity can bore me senseless, at other times I find him quite inspiring and I have never been able to resist a listen to what new material U2 produce. In spite of having ?moved on? musically I still consider U2 one of my favourite bands so after a two year wait I was looking forward to hearing the latest album.
Unlike, say, ?Achtung Baby?, ?NoLine on the Horizon? requires a good few listens to make a decent ...
Finnaly U2 are back, but will there latest album deliver the goods.
NoLine On The HOrizon is on eof U2s best albums to date, it has stepped away form the style of Atomic Bomb and has gone more towards their roots. Bono sounds sensational as always and The Edge still chucks out some awesome guitar.
First lets go through each of the songs:
NoLine On The Horizon - The First song yuo hear on the album and starts off with a great guitar riff accompanied by a wierd sort of ringing tune that is so soothing. Then then Bonos awesome voice comes in, loudly and you immediately welcome back U2. The the drums come in to really kick ass in this awesome tune. The chorus slows down the song and adds a gentle guitar riff silently behingd the lyrics. As always there is a vocal to get you going and although i can't explain it ion writing you ...

Album Notes
There's no shortage of legendary producers in line to work with music world titans U2; when work with Rick Rubin broke off, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois stepped in. The resulting NO LINE ON THE HORIZON, 2009's offering from the Irish rockers, continues in the grand U2 tradition, as soaring pop anthems like opening single "Get on Your Boots" pair with experimental melanges like "Tripoli," on a striking album featuring touches of all the albums come before, yet hinting at new worlds for Bono to conquer.
Album Reviews
Rolling Stone (p.72) - 5 stars out of 5 -- "The Edge takes one of his few extended guitar solos at the end of 'Unknown Caller,' a straightforward, elegiac break with a worn, notched edge to his treble tone....'Cedars of Lebanon' ends the album much as 'The Wanderer' did on ZOOROPA, a triumph of bare minimums..."
