Make time for this book!

Advantages: I couldn't put it down.
Disadvantages: I couldn't put it down!

alternately as victim and possible perpetrator of something sinister - after all what kind of normal family of 2 children (one boy one girl) and a loving father and mother disappears for no reason? There is a whole cast of other characters to be revealed, from Grace the over-protected 8 year old daughter of Cynthia, to Vince the unsuitable boyfriend who Cynthia had been out with on the night of her family's disappearance, to her elderly aunt Tess. All of the characters hold different key pieces of the puzzle and none of them are superfluous or unbelievable. This book is extremely well crafted and the prose is well written. You get the feeling that exactly what is on each page has been pondered at length, the author is completely in control of the narrative and it is a pleasure to read despite the difficult subject matter at times. Disadvantages: US voice, very little "feel-good" factor

I would never have chosen to subscribe to Time Magazine, but it happened like this: PC Plus magazine ran a promotion for a new Business magazine that sounded interesting so I signed up for it. As often happens with new publications, it flopped after a few editions. As ?compensation? I was provided with a free 3-month subscription to Time which I have enjoyed since. As most of you will be aware, Time Magazine is widely available on newsstands. It?s characterized by a cover with a red border and ?TIME? written in bold letters about 2? high. ?Enjoyed? is perhaps the wrong word to use in the above context. Events in the Middle East and Iraq have so dominated current political and business affairs over the past few months that the material covered has had very little associated feel-good factor.
