...Martyn Bennett was completely unknown to me until the night I decided to tune into a radio programme to be hosted by Mike Harding. I had followed his performances for some time visiting the local theatres whenever he was in the area. He had not toured for some time and even I thought his last tour was just a best of and and was a little dissapointing, however I saw or heard the adverts for this prog ad thought I would give it a try. What I heard Completely overwhelmed me, Tracks from; Dick Gaughan (The big Muddy) The Poozies (Rocky Road to Dublin) Ladysmith Black Mambazo(Inkanyezi Nezazi) and a track by Martyn Bennett Tounges of Kali. Mike Harding described Kali as the Hindu Goddess of Death, although research gives several differing descriptions. Tounges of Kali is the first track on the album Bothy Culture its an album... ...all later albums, is much more polished. Their success is evident here: "I don't walk, I get carried". Especially catchy is 'Cash rules...Still don't nothing move but the money' which you can't be listening to without nodding your head like a mad woman. Heck, I've been doing it to the entire cd. 'Severe punishment' has a kung fu flava and feminists beware 'Maria'. The intro dedicates it 'to all the bitches': "I put my dick in the room, she blew my head like a balloon, I had her walking on the moon". It's a public humiliation of all the ho's. There are 2 version's of 'The projects' here, the best of these is the international remix. 'A better tomorrow' tells of life in the projects and the clan warn those in such an enviroment not to walk the path of smoking their lives away, continuing in 'It's yourz': "The world in the palm of your... Advantages: It's funny, fast and Blinks best ever album
Disadvantages: There aren't any

...This is Blink 182's last independant label release and easily their best album. Every song on this album is a model of how pop punk should be. My personal favourites are 'Pathetic' and 'Dick lips'. 'Pathetic' is the first song on the album and is a perfect example of the super fast, super melodic songs that Blink are famed for, which appear in force on this release and will get you amped for extreme sports or a night out. 'Dick lips' is a slower song and is one of the more emotional on Dude ranch. The selection of songs is perfectly balanced with alot of very funny songs about, among other things, relationships with animals, aswell as some more serious ones. The speed of the tunes ranges from moderately slow to super sonic light speed (I think thats around about 100 billion miles a second- The drummer must get really tired... Read review
