Album Reviews: Down Beat (p.70) - 4.5 stars out of 5 -- \"Davern often starts out in the low register, giving his readings an earthy feel that suits the company and the blues-laced repertoire.\"
...Kenny Gorelick, known as Kenny G is a pure instrumentalist jazz artist who broke into the charts with ‘By the Time This Night Is Over’, accompanied by a few vocals by a soft male jazz singer.
This is the perfect album to chill out to, his style is more likely to be known as ‘contemporary jazz’. After the release of his album ‘Songbird’, he became in demand by great artists such as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston inviting him to make special appearances on their tracks.
This is an excellent half instrumental album filled with nearly all the wind instruments, it has a romantic hypnotical feel, an album to make love to.
Tracks on the album include:
Songbird
Silhouette
Forever In Love
Everytime I Close My Eyes
Sentimental
The Moment
How Could An Angel Break My Heart
Loving You
You Send Me...

Advantages: Relaxing, accessible Disadvantages: Not for purists or snobs

Advantages: Pumping inspirational tracks - into the dangerzone Disadvantages: Perhaps a little dated
...With the film now twenty years old it is suprising the popularity that this film still subsists with a new generation of fans. But I suppose that if you have the support of the whole of the US govenment with aircraft carriers and planes at your disposal you were destined to make a special film and a special film needs a special soundtrack. With performers like Kenny Loggins, Berlin, Otis Reading, Europe and The Righteous Brothers this is one very high profile lineup and a CD that should grace anyones CD collection - even if you did not like the film!!
This is certainly one CD that will make you relive the eighties through music.
I love this CD and think it is a great CD to keep in the car, whether you are going to work - into the Danger Zone! or unwinding at the end of the day when Sitting on the dock of the Bay seems to suffice...
