Released in 1988 this album featured ozzys line up of Randy Castillo on Drums, Bob daisley on Bass and an unknown guitarist at the time called Zakk Wylde. For anyone who likes their guitaring and hasn't heard this man play "WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING?"
Zakk Wylde has almost single handedly re-wrote the rule book on how to play hard rock guitar, his individual ... ...instantly recognisable and it is no wonder Ozzy has kept him as his right hand axeman, when youv'e got the best in the business where else can you go?
Anyway, on to the album, coming in at just over 40mins its certainly not an album of epic proportions, it features 8 tracks (labelled) and 1 bonus track (unlabelled) that features on the 2002 re-mastered version.

Zakk Wylde has almost single handedly re-wrote the rule book on how to play hard rock guitar, his individual style with trademark "pinch-harmonic squeals" make his sound unique and instantly recognisable and it is no wonder Ozzy has kept him as his right hand axeman, when youv'e got the best in the business where else can you go?

Miracle Man is a good opening track and a good introduction to the riffing capabilities of Zakk Wylde, apparently the track is supposed to be about Jimmy "caught with his pants down" Swaggart. The song showcases Zakks fluid soloing abilities along with a pounding bass line from Bob Daisley (who later tried to take legal action against the Ozzman) and heavy drumming from Randy. 9/10
Devils Daughter is an uptempo rocker with (in my opinion) a slightly 80ish sound, obligatory "devilish" words thrown in for good measure. 7/10
Crazy Babies, jerky guitar riffed mid tempo song, don't really know what the lyrics are supposed to mean, 6/10
Breakin all the rules, heavy mid tempo with quite a Sabbath-esque feel, with heavy stamping drums driving the song. 8/10
Bloodbath in paradise, theatrical "dark voice of the demon underworld" and then into Zakks pacy riff being hammered along by the drums and meaty bass line, quite a text book rock song but a very good one, the song is based on the Charles Manson murders...........so they say. 9/10
Fire in the sky, a slower atmospheric song with lots of keyboards and synths thrown in, also in the middle we get the "angel" voices before Zakk goes to work on the wah-wah pedal and gives a screaming solo. 8/10
Tattooed dancer, a big rolling drum intro and then Wylde's let loose with a scorcher of a riff ( i 'm positive his Les Pauls have to be built out of military grade materials with the abuse they go through!) song about some girl , with tattooes who he likes. good uptempo song. 8/10
Demon alcohol, this could almost be "suicide solution" part two, song is based on the troubles that drinking causes, quite apt as Ozzy had bad drink and drugs problems at the period of time around these recordings, again great guitar work. 9/10
Hero, a slower more passionate song, seems to be from a different song writing period as it doesnt quite fit the rest of the album, quite big in sound, layered keyboards, thick guitars etc. 7/10
Overall a good album, some good (if cliched) lyrics, an excellent band with some awesome guitaring, if you like what you hear you should see Zakk live.
Iv'e had this tape in and out of the player for a number of years and it still makes me wonder "how the HELL does he play that?

Album Notes
Personnel: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals); Zakk Wylde (guitar); John Sinclair (keyboards); Bob Daisley (bass); Randy Castillo (drums). Additional personnel: John Sinclair (keyboards). Producers: Keith Olsen, Roy Thomas Baker Reissue producer: Bruce Dickinson. Recorded at Enterprise Studios and Goodnight L.A. Studios, Los Angeles, California. Originally released on Epic (44245). Includes liner notes by Phil Alexander. Digitally remastered by Brian Lee and Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering Studios, Inc.). Although Ozzy Osbourne received enormous commercial success with 1986's THE ULTIMATE SIN, his detour into glam metal proved unsatisfying for both Osbourne and his fans. Osbourne spent most of 1987 readying his postponed live album with Randy Rhoads for release, TRIBUTE, and pondering his future musical direction. He elected to return to the kind of music that got him where he was in the first place--loud, unapologetic heavy metal. He also decided to replace guitarist Jake E. Lee with a young newcomer from New Jersey, Zakk Wylde, for 1989's NO REST FOR THE WICKED. Wylde had been a lifelong Ozzy/Sabbath fan, and resembled Randy Rhoads both in appearance and in playing style. While the album is not on par with such past classics as BLIZZARD OF OZ and DIARY OF A MADMAN, NO REST FOR THE WICKED did represent a return to Osbourne's roots (thanks in part to longtime Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker). Osbourne tackles a range of subjects throughout, such as crooked televangelists ("Miracle Man"), serial killer Charles Manson ("Bloodbath in Paradise"), and even his own struggle with alcoholism ("Demon Alcohol"). Also included is the concert favorite and popular video, "Crazy Babies."
