Advantages: Truly inspirational, awe inspiring production of music Disadvantages: none
...As a long standing Bowie fan, i recently purchased this album to replace the origianl that somehow went astray - its bizarre how you mange to loose so many CD's - or is it just me?!?!
When the album Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars was first introduced, it presented to the world a unique pre-packaged personality. For me it also defined the glitter rock movement of the early seventies (would love to be able to go back and experience that first hand).
The album & Ziggy Stardust personna really did take rock theatrics to new eights. My favourite song on the album has to be "suffragette city", the most ferocious track on the album with high guitar rock aggression.
Playing the guitar myself I found this album to be inspirational for song writing allowing me to explore song writing down new avenues. I'd recommend any young up...

Advantages: amazing music Disadvantages: absolutely none
...In my opinion, this album maintains it's great standard throughout. It is a concept album, starting with 'Five Years' - a song about the end of the world, and ending with the haunting 'Rock 'n' roll suicide'. Advantages: Bowie has an amazing mastery of music; lyrically and vocally Disadvantages: It's glam rock, a little dated, and can be a bit grating
...Ziggy Stardust came down to save the World using naught but the power of his haughty voice and glam rock guitar styling. In his quest to save us all, he was aided by the Spiders From Mars, a backing group of fellow aliens who more than equal his ability to rock. Yes, we're in David Bowie territory here, exploring an album that consistently ranks highly in those lists you read of the top albums of all time. "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars" is as intriguing an album as the title suggests, with Bowie dressing up in outrageously odd and elaborate costumes and dying his hair bright red/orange, taking on the title role in this bizarre space opera he's created. At the point in his career Bowie was comfortable, but still pushing himself for new tricks. His previous work had given him a decent grounding, and he...
