Apologies for the lack of opinions lately. I've been on holiday and had a spot of writers block. I'm not entirely happy about the new scheme for rewards, but I should still be writing again soon. :)

This is actually my sister’s album though she hasn’t seen it since I “borrowed” it! Mel C has a superb, very distinguishable voice and has written some really fantastic songs in the past, as most people already know from her four years in the Spice Girls and her blossoming solo career.
Her first solo single – ‘Goin’ Down’ – didn’t do as well as it was hoped, but I remember having the utmost admiration for her, for trying something so different from the music she’d been doing with the group. Anyway, her next three singles – ‘Never be the Same Again’, ‘Northern Star’ and ‘I Turn to You’ did much better. All got really high in the charts and from what I can remember two of them even got to number 1.
Those four singles, which most of you will have heard at some point, can be found on her album, as well as remixes of ‘I Turn to You’ and ‘Never be the Same Again’ and a lot of other wicked tunes. Most are soft rock, though there are some real hard core ones (like ‘Ga Ga’ and ‘Goin’ Down’), ones with a more pop, sing along feel to them (like ‘Suddenly Monday’, a favourite of mine), some dance tracks (like ‘I Turn to You’), some slower, mellowed, chill out songs like (‘Feel the Sun’, another favourite, and ‘Why?’) and even songs with a bit of a Latino feel (like ‘Closer’). So there’s a fantastic variety in the songs, and in my opinion every single one of them is just brilliant.
Most of the songs are happy and uplifting, Goin’ Down is the only really moody, depressing one. And I reckon all of them still have the ‘Girl Power’ element.
In fact, the only songs I don’t like are the two remixes, because they are almost identical to the normal radio edits, and are a complete waste of space.
Anyone who hasn’t already got it should. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

People dismissed this record at first, but Mel C's proved them wrong...it's been on the charts ever since its release in 1999. I agree, it's a surprisingly good collection of songs, very diverse. And so much more interesting than the last Spice Girls album, which should never have been made.

I love this album too, even the remixes :-)

Very helpful opinion, well written. Mel C seems to be very adaptable, with many types of song, a little like Kylie.
Postage & Packaging: Free! Availability: Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon...
Advantages: There's a song for everyone, some nice songs Disadvantages: It doesn't catering for one audience and there are some weaker songs on the album
