I thought it was about time I dragged my record collection out of the dark ages so I decided to join Britannia Music. I found them on the internet at www.britanniamusic.co.uk. I took up the excellent offer of 6 CDs for £13.99. I decided to buy Music to Watch Girls By, The Best of Blondie, Abba Gold, Now 45, Now 46 and Now 47. I am now well and truly committed to buying a further 6 CDs at regular price and at £16.99, regular price is a bit on the expensive side (although this is for a double album).
My record collection really needed an overhaul so the quickest and easiest way was to opt for the 'Now That's What I Call Music -' series. I have found these compilations are a brilliant mix and if you stick with the same series, you don't get any duplicates which is common between different compilation albums.
The latest in the 'Now' series is Now 48 and is no exception. I saw it advertised and liked the snippits on TV so I thought, what the heck, I've got to buy some anyway I might as well buy something I like.
Now 48 is a double CD with 41 top chart hits. It also has a website www.now48.com where you can listen to and watch each song. You also get a little booklet listing the tracks and giving brief details about the artists.

There are several tracks which are in the current Top 20 and more than a few have been recent number ones. The album is pre-dominantly pop although there are a few rock, rap, soul tracks to add a little variety.
It is an advantage to buy a compilation album, especially with pop, because quite often when you buy an album by a solo artist/band, it is not unusual to only like one or two tracks. If the band is new,the chances are they won't even be around the next year.
Now 48 is a great CD to sing along to and have a jig about. It really raises your spirits and is excellent for parties. Not being a teenager, I can't pretend that I know all the artists on the album but I know enough to rate it good value for money.
I paid £16.99 for this double album but I did have the added bonus of buying The Brit Awards 2000 for just £2.99. I'm sure if you shop around the High Street, you can find it much cheaper. If you're into pop and chart music, you will really love this album.

Great and detailed Op, but doesnt seem like my kind of album, no sign of Craig David or Destinys child!

I remember buying the first ever NOW compliation LP, that makes me feel old!!
Advantages: Familiar brand, established formula, and unrivalled value-for-money. More than 40 hit singles for little more than the price of a chart CD. Disadvantages: You get the good and the bad, all jumbled up together. The lack of acts from outside the Warner/Sony/BMG labels.

Review of Now 48
Advantages: Some excellent rock ballads are present on this album. Powerful vocals throughout. Disadvantages: Bryan Adams has recorded better albums than this.
