Advantages: Some great songs Disadvantages: Not a true career retrospective
...A quick survey of my CD collection betrays my taste in Blondie, the Strokes, REM, Talking Heads, Scissor Sisters, Duran Duran, the Ramones, Franz Ferdinand and others. Something of an eclectic mix already in that bunch, but it would be safe to argue that at least the above artists all safely fit into the typical 'rock' category. Well, maybe not Duran Duran, but there we go (and quit the sniggering at the back, Duran Duran are quality, quality I tell you!). Nestled among these various albums (the number of which are getting quite out of hand but there we go, what can you do when you have such fine taste in music?) are a few little gems by one of soul's greatest singers and one of the best and most under-rated songwriters of all time, Mr. StevieWonder. While admittedly something of a sharp contrast to anything else in my music collection...

Advantages: It's just fab, fab, FAB Disadvantages: None for me
...17 great StevieWonder ballads on 1 CD. I got a really great bargain when I bought it from Ebay for £3.00 (even though I'd already got it......don't ask, I'm just very stupid and my memory's really bad - I think it must be my age. But at least I've now got one for the house and one for the car)
It contains some of my very favourites - My Cherie Amour, You are the sunshine of my life and Lately to name just 3. AND it has my very very favourite - Stay Gold. What a fab song!
It is, as always, very easy listening with Stevie's usual fantastic harmonies
What a genius this man is. This is a must have for anyone's CD collection....

Advantages: Truly stunning, a soul masterpiece, blueprint for soul music Disadvantages: None
...-turvy, StevieWonder was America’s premier black artist. This – ‘Innervisions’, is his best album from this period.
The albums opens with ‘Too High’, a jittery, jazzy soul number with keyboards that sound like they should be playing in a smoky nightclub populated by jazz aficionados quite possibly doing drugs. The song deals with drugs in quite a psychedelic way, with lyrics like ‘She’s a girl in a dream/She sees a four-eyed cartoon monster on the TV screen/She takes another puff and says/”It’s a crazy scene”/That red is green/And she’s a tangerine’. Bizarre stuff, not the kind of thing you expect from the StevieWonderone immediately thinks of these days. And truly brilliant.
‘Visions’ is a tale of idealism and hope. ‘People hand in hand’, Wonder sings, ‘Have I lived to see the milk and honey land?/Where hate’s a dream and love forever stands...
