Advantages: great sound/picture, good extras Disadvantages: no dvd-rom features on R2, a few dull extras
The first dvd release of Seven was incredibly lacklustre but there was always a the rumour that a special edition would eventually turn up as seeing as New Line were the film's producers, well you wouldn't doubt them
Released as a two dvd set this is a very accomplished effort that was well worth waiting for. As you probably know the film follows two detectives , one old, one young as they try to track down a serial killer who is killing according to the seven deadly sins. What set's this aside from being the normal genre standard are great performances, gruesome relaity and a very dark tone courtesy of David Fincher.
The film itself has been re-mastered for this release. What they actually done was to do a master from the original film negative. this was risky as some will know that if the negative gets damaged then the original ...

Advantages: Cute, funny, great acting, a wonderful storyline!!! Disadvantages: None!
I bought this DVD a good few years ago when I saw it in a shop after seeing Just Married which stars Brittany Murphey...who is the star of this film too, and loving her acting. So I snapped it up despite never hearing of it before!!!
It turned out to be a great buy as Uptown Girls is an amazing film which I love!!!!!!!!!!
The film is about a young woman, in her early 20's, Molly Gunn played by Brittany Murphey. Molly is the daughter of dead rocker parents who died when Molly was very young in a plane crash. Ever since Molly has lived off her inheritance, never working or giving a care in the world. Her bills are paid from a bank account whcih is in the hands of banker, Bob...and the rest of her money is kept in her freezer...what could go wrong eh!?
It's Mollys birthday and her friends throw her a "surprise" party in a club ...
Advantages: Fabulous ending Disadvantages: Some of it is quite dull
Detective Lieutenant William Somerset is just six days off retiring when he becomes involved in the hunt for a serial killer. Aided by Detective David Mills, it soon becomes clear that the murders, although initially random, do have something in common - each of them is the representation of one of the seven deadly sins. Gluttony, for example, is represented by a man so overweight that he was unable to escape from his tormentor. Slowly, the two detectives begin to piece the evidence together, and Mills almost catches the serial killer, nick-named John Doe, at one point, only to narrowly escape with his life. Will they finally catch up with John Doe? Or is he destined to always be one step ahead?
Made in 1995 and directed by David Fincher, this film was much praised on release for being excellent in just about every way possible ...

Album Reviews
Mojo (2/01, p.95) - "...Aural gold dust, you won't find a finer record this year....Undeniably cut from bedroom/4-track cloth, SAM more often dip into plaintive rootsiness, falling between Palace and Wilco..." Magnet (1-2/01, p.109) - "...Sullen portrait-rock painted in 5 songs....Call it Midwestern stoner blues....this is [their] most coherent stab at rock transcendence yet..."
