Advantages: Great Songs, some brilliant Lyrics Disadvantages: Probably only let down by the final track
, other than when I am purposely listening to the whole album through. No doubt that if/when I watch the film, it may serve some purpose.
My Thoughts on the Album
One of the magical things about PinkFloyd is how different all their albums are, from the epic long songs, like 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' on 'Wish you were Here' to the mind bending songs such as 'Interstellar Overdrive' from 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn'. ObscuredbyClouds is a relaxing album, the music driven songs flow gently into one another, which I find perfect for just chilling out. Especially brilliant on a hot summer day, sat in the garden letting the chords and notes wash over you, it transports you away into a different world, and leaves you chilled out and relaxed.
I personally prefer it on Vinyl, which I managed to get a decent second edition copy ...
Advantages: Lifts you,enthrawls you,takes you to another world a masterpiece!!! Disadvantages: The odd track drags on or is too heavy due to a botched waters/gilmour collaberation
Obscuredbyclouds is a soundtrack albumn byPinkfloyd to a french film 'La vallee'.The film is based on a women in New Guinea joining an expedition of hippies to locate a secret vallee worshiped by local tribes.The film is based on a daring adventure and unique out of this world experience which is pretty much like the albumn.Roger waters uses his lyrics to create a parralel contrast between the film and music it's very engenious because the lyrics manage to enthrawl you and grip you into another world,it's as if the lyrics tell the story of each stage of an exciting once in a lifetime adventure and you have been invited along.
The music ahh what an amazing blend of perfection.This albumn was mae in between MEDDLE and DSOTM and many elements from each side of the floyd ages are blended into the albumn a couple of the tracks ...
Advantages: Good music and all that. Disadvantages: Soundtrack album.

ObscuredByClouds is the second and final film soundtrack recorded byPinkFloyd. This was released in 1972, the first -A Soundtrack To The Film More- came out in 1969. During those years so much had changed for PinkFloyd. Back then they were still looking for some kind of direction after losing Syd Barrett, by now they were well on their way down their new road. Digging it out and cutting down the trees in the way as they went, for their road was literally only theirs and had never been trekked before.
This album is a vast improvement on More, even though More was actually quite good if a little ahead of it's time. The film it's from is ...
