Advantages: it's Beck only more mellow Disadvantages: You can dance to it....except Tropicalla
...This album, not the official follow up to Odelay is more of a side project. It doesn't have any of the over produced and mixed sound of either Odelay or Midnite Vultures. Beck's influences come out here more obviously than ever. You can here the country singer in him, with his folk song and modern blues. It is very mellow and relaxed, perfect soundtrack to a lazy afternoon - that is if you don't go too deeply into the lyrics which are more personal on this album than on any of his other albums. Beck is a man of many talents, and this album is not one that should be left on the shelves....

Advantages: Your ears will love it! Disadvantages: None
...Fantastic. This is the album that really brough Beck to my attention. I had heard Loser years earlier and though that it was fantastic, but then I heard no more from Beck. I feared that maybe he was lost in the world of the one hit wonder. Thankfully no, and he came back with this fantastic album to prove it. First single "Where It's At" is Beck on top form, with Beck shouting "Two turntables and a microphoe" and there are many more fantastic moments on this album. Devils Haircut is another classic that brough him much recognition. This album again has a mixture of style with his folk/blues influence more apparent on tracks such as Jackass, whereaa there are moments of pure disco, something new in the Beck mix.
This was many a musician's album of the year, and it's difficult to argue with that....

...becksodelay is his best record.it showcases each of his styles to great effect.the production is also top notch from the beastie boys pals dust brothers.
It opens with the rockin Devils Haircut and continues with top tracks throughout.there is country with Lord only Knows and Sissyneck.folk with Ramshackle and many definitive Beck tracks.Stand out numbers are the funk/hip hop Where its At,the super disco of Rock the Catskills and the howling closer Diskobox.
Basically if anyone wants to get into beck this is where to start. Each track is classic (apart from Derelict) and it was voted album of the year by many magazines....
