...Dub War’s album entitled “Pain” is a classic album that deserves much more credit than it ever got. With great tracks like “Gorrit” and “Strike It”, Dub War really did deserve to be bigger than they ever were. Hailing from Wales, they kind of got left behind in the explosion of Welsh bands that saw the Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia and the Stereophonics all achieve major chart success. But this is rough edge real music, none of that indie/rock the others play. The guitars riffs are heavy, the drums fast, the bass of the highest importance and superb vocals.
This is one of those albums that you should have in your collection because in 5-10 years you’ll stick it on and still be astounded at how brilliant Dub War were....

...Bullet For My Valentine are a four-piece band hailing from the far-away land of Wales, this their eponymous debut mini-album released on Visible Noise, home to fellow Welsh kings Lostprophets. Although BFMV are somewhat heavier in sound than their Top 40 crashing label-mates, on the evidence of this 5-track release the potential is certainly there, given the right backing, to emulate the success enjoyed by the 'prophets…
Opener 'Hand of Blood' is an absolute stormer, in my opinion the best on the album. It's the chorus that makes this track for me, one of those that sticks in your head and doesn't go away - exactly what the first track...

Advantages: Diversity of songs Disadvantages: Occassionally sounds a bit similar
...'The Battle of Los Angeles' signals Rage Against the Machine's return to form after the relatively unsuccessful 'Evil Empire'. The album sound like a mixture of the first and second albums, but songs such as 'Mic Check' and 'War Within Breath' show that the band are capable of more than the slow, grinding sound of their first album.
Although there is nothing comparable to 'Killing in the Name' or 'Bullet in the Head' anthem-wise, Rage have produced an album capable of reaching the masses, with songs like 'Sleep Now in the Fire' and 'Calm Like a Bomb' showing that Rage will continue to rage.
Go and see them live and you'll get the first album performed with the raw energy of this album....
