Oi Oi Oi - Various Artists

Advantages: Punk, punk and more punk
Disadvantages: No Clash!?!

...I brought this ablum just as I was getting into 70's/80's punk but knew very few of the less mainstream bands (just bands like the clash and the sex pistols), so I bought it. I wasn't disapointed with most of the songs on this compalation but there are a few the weren't my thing. So I got home put it on, the first track was the much over played "Anarchy in the UK", which is the first political punk song but one of the 1st punk bands, so I suppose it had to be on there. The rest of the songs I'd never heard and only reconised some of the bands. There is a real mix of punk from political to punk-pop to Oi! and gives you a real feel for the punk scene at that time. Some of the better band i found on this compalation are Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks, The Stranglers and Cockney Rejects. My favourite track being "The Greatest Cockney Rip... Read review

...Die hard figure of the throbbing UK punk scene, Snuff return with a new album of more classic tunage. 'Mumb nuts' is 17 tracks of harmonic, shambolic luverly jubbly singalongs, me old china. Oi Oi saveloy, prepare to be amazed as you find your self falling down the apples and pears and straight into love with the cheeky melodies, blinding songman ship, lashings of hammond/joanna and trombone breaks guv'nor. There are some sterling tracks here: 'reach', 'another wet weekend at the tundra theme park', 'yuki'and the hardcore spunk up of 'Fu*k off'.... Read review

...Having being a long time Walker Brothers fan I started listening to Scott Walker's solo work and found it, on the whole, to be challenging but entertaining. However Tilt is one step too far into the world of pathetic self indulgence. The whole album sounds like a suicidal manic depressive reading out his shopping list. If record companies want his fans to buy his records they should try a bit of tactfull discussions along the lines of "Oi, Scott. This is complete rubbish, why don't you go back into the recording studio and sing something?" Having tried to get into the entire concept by listening to it a few times I have now given up on this album. It is a waste of money and should have a label on the front warning his fans of such a fact.... Read review
