...The Dreaming, an experimental, courageous, though arguably over serious album, was Kate Bush’s follow up to Never For Ever in September 1982. Just under two years in the making, the album wa sproduced by Kate herself, a role she had been moving toward since Lionheart. Sat In Your Lap, inspired by a Stevie Wonder gig, and trailed as a single as early as July 1981, was indicative of what was to follow: complex lyrics; a deepening of Kate’s vocal timbre; a heavy use of polyphonic synthesisers, and an oppressive, almost claustrophobic production. Advantages: Nicely satirical | Cracking video

...George caused quite a stir when he released Freeek! earlier this year. It was, shall we say, a little different to say the least. However although it probably alienated a number of his old fans it opened the doors for a slightly newer generation of people to listen to his music and take note that he is a talented and ever style-changing artist. Shoot the Dog comes with its own media whirlwind and once again a certain video is involved. While Freeek! was noted for its slightly sexual video and lyrics which caused a few eyebrows to be risen in the obligatory inquisitive manner, Shoot the Dog has had a slightly different reaction and, probably, a slightly bigger one. The story behind Shoot the Dog supposedly stems from what George Michael read in The (Daily) Mirror about the Blair and Bush partnership after the September 11th tragedy... Read review

...Now, who doesn’t remember French kissing? Deborah Harry is getting on a bit these days but that doesn’t stop her from releasing some excellent tracks. She headed the semi-punkish band ‘Blondie’ in the 1980’s and in turn when onto a successful solo career. Although with the influence of the band ‘Blondie’ being somewhat punkish, her solo album is a mixture of a slight Kate Bush and old fashioned 80’s pop/rock. From the days back when she used a black bin liner as a dress and bright yellow shoes for a video shoot, to the next scene where she’s singing another song with a studded dog collar and very viscous looking boots!
