Good Intro to the Traditional Sounds of South-Eastern Europe

Advantages: great selection, good variety
Disadvantages: somehow mistitled, mostly traditional stuff

used to be in Middle Europe before WW2, while after that, despite having its borders move several hundred miles to the west, it become part of Eastern Europe), but usually refers to the countries of the former Soviet block (and sometimes includes Greece). On this album, "Eastern Europe" is actually more of an alternative label for the Balkans. Most tracks come from artists from Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and countries of former Yugoslavia, although there is one track from a Russian band, and one from Polish mountains. I can understand this, as the Balkans are probably musically the most interesting and there is only very limited number of connoisseurs of GDR disco and other more obscure manifestations of Eastern European music. Kentucky Can Tuck Itself Away From Tourists

Advantages: The caves, good city music scene, history, fun small towns
Disadvantages: Scary small towns, Not a lot to do in cities, Backwoods People

, and Lewisburg***** * Louisville * Is by far, the biggest city in all of KY. It also has the most history and is suprizingly "posh" in certain areas. I used to go down to Louisville every year a child with my parents for a Convention next to a famous Louisville horse race track. I remember lots of "victorian' style homes in downtown area kept in absolutely pristine condition. Not to mention the various hotels we would stay at that were either from the late 1800's or Art Deco period. There is a lovely period hotel called "The Brown" that feels like a time warp. The elevators were even in the old style from the early 1900's. I'm not sure how much it's changed in the last 15/20 yrs, but I hope it has kept it's own old-fashioned charm. Walk the Line - the music

Advantages: Great foot tapping sing-along tracks

If you have seen the film Walk the Line starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon and loved the music in the film then you may want to buy the soundtrack as it is just as great. & even if you haven't seen the film but love great foot tapping country/ Rock 'n' Roll songs with some slower country/blues ballads mixed in then this may be for you too. I thought the film was absolutely amazing and so went out and bought the soundtrack the very next day. I have loved Johnny Cash's music for a long time but do not have any of his cd's. One of the great aspects of the film was that the singers all did their own singing and nobody mimed a word. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are so convincing as Johnny Cash and June Carter that when I put the cd on, it could almost be the real thing. Tracks: 1. Get Rhythm - sung by Phoenix ...
