GREAT! all the best songs one one album i hate it when you buy a comelation cd and you only listen to a few tracks on the first c.d well not this one ! this have many many of the best 60's grooving tracks and i would reccomend this to anyone that it interested in that era, i have it pklaying in my car with the window down and the sun shining through ! however it could have more of the likes of the who and the kinks but apart form a few missing artists ... Mine have been hit and miss but I believe the 100 Hits series, currently found in most supermarkets, WH Smith, music retailers and online naturally is a goldmine series bringing together the well known classics with quite a few of those tracks that rarely get tracklisted elsewhere on 5 discs, all for the average price of £6.99-7.99 ...
...The main review. 100 Hits 70s was the first in the series I purchased and I can safely say the compilers know their music and have done a fantastic job in highlighting most of the music styles that pervaded throughout the UK charts during the decade. This is a whole lot of Monkees for the money. Whether it is value for money or not is a personal opinion. However everybody's favourite sixties made-for-TV pop group never fail to get your feet tapping and a smile on your face. This is breezy, easy listening. Good to hear several classic tunes in stereo. No surprises that the DVD opens with the familiar happy-go-lucky Monkees theme tune. This is followed on by several personal favourites including ...
...an alternative version of the theme tune and mono versions of some of the songs in stereo such as "Last Train to Clarkesville". Fillers? Depends on how much of a Monkees completist you want to be. Certainly not sure that you need the third version of it that's on it for sure. There are a few previously unreleased tracks such as "Propinquity". ...in my CD player at the same time as boy band music and cheesy 80's pop. I'm particularly fond of Soul, Motown & Funk with a healthy dollop of Disco thrown in. ...collection bought to life by the fact that it is recorded live, you get a real concert sound with none of the over produced instrument sound and no tweaked vocals that you would find on studio produced work, you are also treated to the banter of the band and crowd interaction, giving the feel that you could actually be there at the concert. Advantages: Lots of great songs from the eighties
Disadvantages: A few not so great

...declaring that it is a Top of The Pops Album, with this letting enclosed to make it appear like a circle. The BBC logo is also detailed but this is hardly prominent either. In red lettering at the bottom of the circle the album stipulates the 80s, and provides details of a selection of artists in white lettering across the bottom of the album cover. As I say it is hardly capturing the imagination. So if the album cover didn't grab your attention ...
...this was kept off the top of the charts by Joe Dolce's Shaddupa your face I will never know. For all those of you who bought it (you know who you are) you should be shot. This is an absolute classic (Ultravox not Joe Dolce !!) which has not aged.
