...of ‘garage bands’. The first five tracks on the album scorch a trail through your brain and pass in no time at all. The title track ‘Thunder & Lightning’ with its bluesy feel and comic electronic bass, which simply will not relent its hold on you, is a masterpiece to behold. Follow this up with the violent and angry ‘Enemy’ with its sneering vocals and a Thor-like fury of drums from Paul Quattrone and you have one hell of an opening for an album. ... Read review

...in my CD player at the same time as boy band music and cheesy 80's pop. I'm particularly fond of Soul, Motown & Funk with a healthy dollop of Disco thrown in. ...collection bought to life by the fact that it is recorded live, you get a real concert sound with none of the over produced instrument sound and no tweaked vocals that you would find on studio produced work, you are also treated to the banter of the band and crowd interaction, giving the feel that you could actually be there at the concert. ...declaring that it is a Top of The Pops Album, with this letting enclosed to make it appear like a circle. The BBC logo is also detailed but this is hardly prominent either. In red lettering at the bottom of the circle the album stipulates the 80s, and provides details of a selection of artists in white lettering across the bottom of the album cover. As I say it is hardly capturing the imagination. So if the album cover didn't grab your attention ...
...this was kept off the top of the charts by Joe Dolce's Shaddupa your face I will never know. For all those of you who bought it (you know who you are) you should be shot. This is an absolute classic (Ultravox not Joe Dolce !!) which has not aged. ...a good job and an very individual version. Black Betty is another traditional track with a great banjo accompaniment. A Picture of you was a hit for Joe Brown and the Bruvvers years ago. It is a happy sounding track with banjo and guitars.
