ON A DAY LIKE TODAY is a black and white covers and is quite easy to recognise. It has Bryan walking along the street with his guitar case on his back with an Elephant following behind him (I wonder where this idea came from? It works anyhow!) I think this cd was released back in 1998 (Blimey that only seems like yesterday!)

HOW DO YA FEEL TONIGHT
A slow start. I love this song, it starts quiet guitar with Bryan's vocals quite quiet. Builds up slightly to a more upbeat chorus with a lovely guitar sound. Slows down again towards the end 'I feel so high, no onelse will know it.....tell me,how do you ... more

The CD Itself is a lime green colour and behind the cd in the case there is lots of little pictures of Bryan and again his band members during variour times of recording and preparing for concerts.

HOW DO YA FEEL TONIGHT
A slow start. I love this song, it starts quiet guitar with Bryan's vocals quite quiet. Builds up slightly to a more upbeat chorus with a lovely guitar sound. Slows down again towards the end 'I feel so high, no onelse will know it.....tell me,how do you feel tonight'. This song really suits Bryans voice, it has a nice edge to it.
C'MON C'MON C'MON Starts with a nice slow, quite again guitar riff. Build up for the chorus with a build up on the drums and guitar. 'C'mon c'mon c'mon - we're gonna make it home tonight'. Basically this song is about how you can believe in Bryan (I would any day he's lovely ;)
GETAWAY This song starts more upbeat than the first two. 'Drove all night from New york city in your best friends car' This song is more upbeat and more of a pop song rather than a rock song. It's about 'getting away' and that you should just do it as you don't live forever and have to take the chance while you have got it.
ON A DAY LIKE TODAY This is another song I really like. The title of the Album this is a song that sticks in my head once I have listened to it. Again, a slow quiet start, basically saying that we can have our dreams and that it is not always bad and that there is something good out there for all of us and when it happens you never want it to end.
FEARLESS 'It's 3am - I'm lying here next to you what ya gonna do?' This song is very upbeat about a women he is with who is already in a relationship. He knows where he stands but he's trying desperatley to get through to this woman that hes the right man for her and not this other guy. He's saying he's fearless about the situation. This is definately one of my FAVE tracks on the whole album. So catchy!
I'M A LIAR Another good song here, good drum beat in this song. This song is Bryan admitting he has told lies to this person and that he is 'over his head'. He's trying to say he's telling the truth now even though he has lied. 'I'm over my head forget what I said'
CLOUD NO. NINE This single was released from this album. Cloud no. is a well known Bryan Adams song. 'Well it's a long way up and we won't come down tonight' This song is about going to cloud no.9 ;) and that once they are there everything is okay and how it all feels right. Like I say a good pop song taken from this album.
WHEN YOU'RE GONE FEAT. MELANIE C I like this song also. Hate her or love her Melanie's vocals really suit this song. If you don't know this song then it is about two people who are apart and don't know what to do. He can't concentrate because he keeps thinking about her and can't listen to the radio because the radio's playing songs that remind them of each other. 'Baby when you're gone, I realise I'm in love' Again, another really good pop song which done well in the charts.
INSIDE OUT Basically this is slow song which is describing how Bryan wants to know this woman. He wants to know everything about her just like he knows about himself. I like this song but I prefer the more up beat tunes.
IF I HAD YOU ~ This is a nice song, about how he can do anything if he had you (you can have me Bryan come and take me away!) Basically anything is possible for him and his life complete if he had this person
BEFORE THE NIGHT IS OVER Upbeat start. 'hey baby - I've got someone and you've got someone too' 'before the night is over we're gonna get what we desire' This song is about being with their own couples yet they still want to be togther. They know that it is wrong but they cannot help it that they want to be together. This is Bryan Adams at his best I think I really like this song.
I DON'T WANNA LIVE FOREVER Another upbeat song with good guitar. I don't wanna live forever is about doing everything he possibly can in this life time and he's going to go out fighting when his time is up.
WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD Another slow number, a slow drum beat in the background with guitar. This song is about Bryan never thinking he would find someone who would be able to know everything about him and see what he is really like. 'You found your way into my head where even angels fear to tread'
LIE TO ME I think this song starts a bit like cloud no.9 but it does turn into it's own. Another good song. He wants his partner to lie to him (he doesn't want to know the truth about what she has really been up to), he doesn't care if she doesn't mean it he just doesn't want to be hurt. I think this is his senstive side coming out and his insecurities about being hurt.
CLOUD NUMBER NINE (CHICANE MIX) Again, cloud no,9 only remixed by Chicane (remember them? Bryan done a song with them a couple of years back)
*OVERALL* I love this album. It is more of a pop/rock album rather than Rock. There are some really excellent tracks on here which I cannot get bored of. 15 tracks it is well worth the money. Even if you are not much of a fan of Bryan Adams I think you may like this album as it has a mixture of his styles of music on. (Oh and he writes all his own music, either by himself or jointly with someone else - which a lot of people nowadays don't!)

Advantages: Good consistency Disadvantages: The odd dodgy track
...worried about taking the plunge on this album, although the fact that I own all of his previous albums, the collaboration with Mel C, while catchy , is hardly the sort of combo I wanted to see from one of my favourite artists. Therefore I was both surprised and pleased at the quality overall of the album.
OK, there is the odd ropey track (you don't find THOSE on Reckless....) but generally it continues Adams' development as an artist, even 20 years ... ...better than the commercial dance version which was released as a single, When you're gone grows on you once you get past the grating of Mel's voice and 'How do ya feel tonight' Na dthe title track are downright quality songs....
On the whole a quality product all round ...

Advantages: Several good songs. Disadvantages: None.
'On a day like today is a CD that consists of 15 songs. The CD is a mix of catchy - popped up songs, meaningful songs and of course rock ballads. Every one of the songs is very well written.
The CD has had several hits taken from it including, 'On a day like today', 'Cloud number nine' and 'When you're gone'.
Not everyone will enjoy or appreciate this CD, however for the Bryan Adams purest, this CD is well worth having as it is consistent with ...

It was released in 1997 on MTV unplugged. It is a song between rock and pop for me. It is nice background music. It is a live recording.

Album Notes
Personnel: Bryan Adams (vocals, guitar, bass, Mellotron, Wurlitzer); Melanie C. (vocals); Phil Thornalley (guitar, bass); Keith Scott (guitar, 6-string bass); Vancouver Orchestra (strings); Dave Pickell (piano, Hammond organ); Vince Jones (Hammond organ); Phil Western (keyboards, programming); Robbie Buchanan (keyboards); Dave Taylor (bass); Mickey Curry (drums); Danny Cummings (percussion); Mike Gillies, Olle Romo (programming). Producers: Phil Thornalley, Bryan Adams, Bob Rock, Phil Western. Recorded at the Warehouse Studio, Vancouver, Canada and in Ocho Rios, Jamaica between June & August 1998. Since 1978, Bryan Adams has been churning out solid rock'n'roll overflowing with more hooks than a tacklebox. ON A DAY LIKE TODAY follows the same formula of great songwriting, adding a contemporary edge that's led to this being Adams' most adult-sounding album. Beefing up the guitars and tossing aside some of his more saccharine tendencies allowed Adams to put more of an edge to songs as simplistic as "C'mon C'mon C'mon" and "Cloud Number Nine." Drum-machine-like rhythms gild the abundant hooks of "Getaway" while "If I Had You" gives off an ethereal vibe reminiscent of Chris Isaak sans the Orbisonish croon. Adams tackles adult topics such as the uncertainty of life ("On A Day Like Today"), being the other guy in an affair ("Fearless") as well as playing the deceitful card in a relationship ("I'm A Liar"). Rock and roll still rules the roost in "Before The Night Is Over," but Adams' best moment comes during his duet with Melanie C. on the soulful-as-hell "When You're Gone." This powerful nugget is devoid of any teeny-bopperisms and Mel C. impresses as she sounds more like Joan Osborne and less like Sporty Spice.
Album Reviews
Entertainment Weekly (10/30/98, p.116) - "...Adams has started searching for that perfect balance of mature grace and useful guitar grind. No fumbling around; Adams' new restraint energizes this gently jangling material..." - Rating: B+
