...Rod Stewart…..30 Years Of Memories!!!
It was July 1971 that Rod hit No.1 with Maggie May, and he has gone on to turn out hit after hit in the thirty years after.
I remember the first time I heard Maggie May, I was in Glasgow at the time training with my first job. I was staying in a bed & breakfast and I turned on the television to watch “Top of the Pops” when this guy came on with a long scarf and feathered hair. He had a long stand up microphone, which he held in the one spot then strutted across the stage with it. He was just brilliant and with that single Rod Stewart had arrived on the pop scene .
Of course that feathered hair cut was to be copied by everyone in the latter part of 1971, that and the Ziggy cut of David Bowie. Rod released an album that year as well called “Every Picture Tells...

...It's hard for non-babyboomers to believe that Rod Stewart was a cutting-edge R&B troubadour in his time. He was though, and it wasn't until the early eighties that he really became a conversational embarrassment. What happened to the poor sod? LA basically, and too long a separation from Ronnie Wood. Jagger has Keith to keep him on the 'Bent & Wide', Rod has Ron. Both have Ron actually but that's another story.
So it was, that after a particularly liquid lunch in Oporto, I found myself in a multi-media store. I saw this CD. I thought 5 euros (3 quid) can't be bad, added to which I saw Ron Wood on the cover. I did, of course, wonder why in the hell I'd bought it on the Sunday morning, but it turned out to be not such a bad buy. I've done much worse after a liquid lunch!
This is a discount pressing of one of those unplugged MTV...

Advantages: All the very best on one cd. Disadvantages: none
...This is the only Rod Stewart cd that i own. All of his best songs are here. I particularly wanted the track = Rhythm of my heart, as its been a favourite of mine for a long time. Having listened to both cd,s i find myself liking everything about it. I bought it used from ebay and at a very reasonable price, especially for a double cd. As he now seems to be singing the old crooner type of songs i don,t expect to be buying any more, definately not my thing, even though i love his voice, i really dont like the " sinatra " stuff. The days of " Maggie May " when he was a bit of a rocker, is much more my thing. he says = Do you think i,m sexy. well in my opinion yes, yes , yes. like a lot of singers he gets better with age. If you are looking for a good rounded selection of Rod,s best song,s , then you need look no further....
