...looking for reawakening to keep the spark. 'No Rain on this Parade' is a song of hope and longing. Great stuff and typical Steve lyrics. Listening to 'The Coast of Amalfi' is like being there. Steve must know the area very well as his description takes you with him so you feel the sun beating down and form crystals on the clear water. From one extreme to the other. Hold on to your hats as 'The Last Feast' roars through your senses and blasts you into space. Guitarist Robbie Gladwell surpasses himself in the complicated and dramatic track full of noise and excitement. Steve's spiritual side is truly evident in this track from beginning to end. Quieter now but just as poignant to Steve's deep side. 'Save me from Myself' is asking for help, strength and possibly even forgiveness. A strong lyric and soulful tune. Cregan, again joined Steve... Be grateful of what we shared together and be glad” This song has a real jumpy beat to it and uses Carolyn Dennis as a background singer. Where Are You Tonight (Journey Through The Dark Heat) The last song on this album is an absolute classic. It has a fantastic beat and Carolyn Dennis has great vocals on it. There's a neon light a-blaze In a green Smokey haze And laughter down on Elizabeth Street Elizabeth Street is in lower Manhattan in the same general area as Little Italy, Chinatown and the old Jewish Lower East Side. Advantages: Great Country Music
Disadvantages: Not Great If You Don't Like Country

...I love proper country music; the crofts of my home in the Highlands of Scotland are only a stones throw away from the dirt farms of the mid-west and southern US. There has always been a big country following in Scotland one could argue that the music has similar chord structures to that of proper Scots folk music or that the themes of desperation, social isolation, religion, suicide and loyal dogs that get killed in horrific accidents strike a chord in the Scottish psyche, but I am not going to go down that path here……….. This is the Steve Earle who did that song called Copperhead Road and upset a few folks by releasing a song written from the point of view of a Taliban fighter. What a bad boy but I think that if you cannot see the other sides point of view then you will never reach them, unless you blow them into tiny little bits... Read review
