One Bright Morning - Tony Quarrington

..."Quite Ugly One Morning" was Christopher Brookmyre's first book and consequently this is the first time we get to meet maverick journalist Jack Parlabane. Not only has Jack just returned to his native Scotland after a very narrow escape from work in America he has moved into a flat where the owner of the flat below, Dr Jeremy Ponsonby has just been discovered murdered in a very bloody and brutal fashion. After another narrow escape when the police first suspect that Jack may actually be the murderer he meets up with the victim's former wife, a young aesthetician named Sarah Slaughter. Whilst Sarah isn't exactly pining for her murdered ex-husband she does suspect that something is not quite right with the burglary-gone-wrong scenario that the police seem to suspect has caused Jeremy's death. Advantages: Great songs, no fillers

...Bright eyes is the name Coner Oberst uses on all his albums (there are more out than just the two new ones), but it is not a band, just the one man (Conor). Although many musicians contribute to the record, he is the one who writes the songs and plays guitar in all of them, and the musicians change throughout. Conor Oberst is from the USA and has had other albums such as Digital ash in a digital urn (one of the newest ones), one jug of wine two vessels, lifted or the story is in the soil keep your ear to the ground and fevers and mirrors, along with many more. He has been recording since the age of 13, and is now 24. He has recently toured with REM. His style of music has been described as indie rock and emo. This is my favourite album by the fantastic Bright Eyes, this band deserve so much more recognition than they have got as yet. I love all the songs on this album, they all do something different, take you someplace else. My favourite songs though are, First Day Of My Life, a song that most people will find a connection with, Landlocked Blues, and Poison Oak, a song with oomph!
