I recently wrote on Aaliyahs latest self-titled album, the one she released just before she was tragically taken from us. Well now I'm going to write on another of her great albums, she has released 3 in total, 'Age Ain't Nothing But A Number' 'One In A Million' and 'Aaliyah'

I love Aaliyahs latest album, I think it has a few weak links but the good tracks are just the best which is why I tend to listen to that CD more than the other one I own, 'One In A Million'. However 'One In A Million' has less weak tracks and more consistent quality which I like.

One In A Million was Aaliyah Haughtons second album and I'm quite confused about when it was released. Some say it was released last year, but I thought it was sometime back in 94-96?! I thought she was only 16 when she released this album, if anyone knows, please let me know if you could! Cheers! Anyway this CD was very popular and probably still is now! If you want to remember great talent, you should listen to this CD. The CD consists of 17 tracks and the album features Missy Elliot, Aaliyahs pal, Timbaland and Michael Haughton as an executive Producer.

The cover of the CD is nothing special but the picture of Aaliyah does remind me of well known singer, Gabrielle. Aaliyah is wearing dark glasses and her hair like Gabrielle wears it, with a side parting, if I didn't know better I would of said this was a young picture of Gabrielle herself.

This opinion is on a good, listenable album, 'One In A Million'

Track1: Beats 4 Da Streets (Intro)

The intro is nothing speical, but it is catchy and unlike most intro's on CDs I tend to listen to this 2minute track.

Track2: Hot Like Fire

I like this song, a great proper first track to an album. The song is quite long, it is catchy, beaty and features many voices which sounds pretty good on the track. The chorus lyrics are slow but beaty, they are simple but catchy, I like it a lot, it's a different style which I enjoy listening to.

Track3: One In A Million

The album is named after this track, this is one of my favourite tracks on the CD, it's about special love, I adore the songs lyrics. The beats are brilliant on this track and it comes well after Hot Like Fire.

Track4: A Girl Like You

I adore this track! It features a male voice which I'm guessing is Timbalands, this song carries on a great run of tracks after Hot Like Fire and One In A Million. The chorus is really catchy and I love it, the verses however are a lot less beaty and more quieter, still however this song is great, Aaliyah's voice is brilliant!

Track5: If Your Girl Only Knew

This song is beaty and catchy, Aaliyah sings about someone who is after her, but has a girlfriend, she talks about the things if only this girl knew. The lyrics are interesting but can get a bit tiresome, the chorus is brilliant though, I enjoy this track, it's beaty, dancy and interesting.

Track6: Choosey Lover (Old school/New school)

This song is catchy and great to listen to, it probably suits backround music as it is quite a slow song, the lyrics aren't majorly interesting but I like the chorus, it's interesting and original. There is just somethnig about this track that makes it what it is.

Track7: Got To Give It Up

A lot beatier than the last track, this song features male voices, even a little bit of male rap! Aaliyahs voice is introduced after the male voices, her voice is a lot stronger than on other tracks, the lyrics are simple and not that catchy but the chorus makes the song good, it's beaty, loud and cool!

Track8: 4 Page Letter

I like the beginning of this song where the music is slowly turned up to Aaliyahs voice. The track itself is made from the lyrics, they are slow, calm and relaxing as well as interesting. The slow beats make the lyrics catchy and a really calm, good track to listen to. I enhjoy this song, it's great for just listening to, but it's also great for backround music.

Track9: Everything's Gonna Be Alright

This song is quite long and quite beaty, its beatier than the last track and enjoyable to listen to, the lyrics are ok but I love chorus, its cool! You can understand the lyrics, the song makes you feel however bad things are, things can be alright, I enjoy listening to this track, it has interesting beats and a wicked chorus!

Track10: Giving You More

This track isn't as good as some others on the album but it's listenable, calm and relaxing. The lyrics are interesting but the song does become a little boring after a while, this song is perfect for backround music but nothing else really.

Track11: I Gotcya' Back

This is a pretty quick track, it is only nearly 3 minutes long but it's catchy and cool to listen to! It isn't long winded which I like, some of the other tracks on the album are rather long which can get a bit annoying! I enjoy this song, it's nothing amazing but it's pleasant and listenable!

Track12: Never Givin' Up

There is a long intro to this song before you actually here Aaliyahs voice, when you do hear it, it is soft and not strong at all, the verses make up this song, there isn't much of a chorus, this track would make excellent backround music, towards the end of the track, a male voice is used, it stands out because it makes Aaliyahs voice seem even quieter and softer! This track is long and tiresome though.

Track13: Heartbroken

This song is slow but gets quite beaty in places which is good because it keeps you interested in the song, I like this track, it is quite long but the lyrics are interesting and the beats are relaxing, the tempo changes throughout the song which is different.

Track14: Never Comin' Back

A pure ladiez song! This track is nothing amazing but the lyrics are cool and speak the truth! Aaliyahs voice is pretty good on this track and although it is good, this song does become a bit tiresome, it isnt' one of my favourites!

Track15: Ladies In Da House

Another wicked Ladiez song! A male voice, probably Timbalands is featured on this track, this track is nothing groundbreaking but it is a good song. It placed well towards the end of the album because it isn't as good as some other tracks on the Cd.

Track16: The One I Gave My Heart To

This slow track reminds me of a typical Mariah Carey slow song but 1000x better, it doesen't feature the sqeaky voice and grouchy lyrics, instead Aaliyahs voice is soft and wonderful to listen to and the lyrics and thought provoking and beautiful. I enjoy listening to this track.

Track17: Came To Give Love (Outro)

Another 2minute intro/outro thingy! Quite catchy, features Timbaland and Aaliyah togethe well, a simple and pleasant ending to a pretty superb album from Aaliyah!

As you can see I quite like this CD! The tracks are simple but superb, if you like Aaliyah you will like this album, it is pure Aaliyah style! cheer for reading all, best wishes emma xxx :0)
