The Blue Album – One Love

I’ve never been a massive fan of boy bands – but I absolutely love Blue! I bought this album as a last minute mad rush in HMV to use up a C.D voucher I was given for Christmas. I did like a few of their previous chart songs but I am not really a massive fan of cheesy pop music but this Blue Album is more R’n’B and was pleasantly surprised when I stuck this in my C.D player and heard the music that was churned out!

The album has that “Summer Saturday” feel to it. The kind of album that you stick up when you want to just lose it in your room and dance in front of the mirror or at a mates house. All the tracks have a great feel about them that make you nod your head to the beat! A lot of the songs seem very similar though.

Err okay a bit about each track.

1. One Love
This song was a massive hit for Blue the song the album is titled to. Anyone who listens to recent must of heard this – or if you watch T.V it was a huge hit for the band – but it’s been too overplayed for my liking so I’ve gone off it. A top tune though! This song is written by the band. 6 / 10.

2. Riders
This song has a nice beat to it. It’s a good toe – tapping song something that you would play loud in car with the windows down (well I would if I could drive). The band also wrote this. 8/10.

3. Flexin’
My fave song on the album. A really great tune. A real summer song with the line “ It’s summer time, you’re so fly, You and me, it could be” how could it not be! I think this would be a huge hit if they released it as a single. Has a good mixture of smooth R’n’B and bouncy pop – classic!! It is written by band member Simon Webb 10/10 for me!

4. Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (ft. Elton John).
Anything with Elton John has to be a classic! It’s different from most of the other tracks on the album. Most people who listen to recent music probably will of heard this as well as it was released as a single and in my view should have been the Christmas number one! It was this song really that provoked me to buy the album. Written by Elton John. 9/10!

5. She Told Me
Yet another great song! It’s about one of the guys fancying his sisters best friend! “There was a girl I knew, she was more than beautiful, she had a mind of her own – 5 foot 8 or more. She was a real wild child and nothing could hold her back, she was my sister’s best friend so now you know where it’s at”. Written by the band.8/10

6. Right Here Waiting
This one is about the guy finally realizing what his girlfriend means to him. It’s similar to a couple of tracks on the album. Still a good tune though. 6/10.

7. U Make Me Wanna
Another recently released hit by Blue. I really love this song and it’s been a quick seller – like all their single stuff! It’s about a guy loving his girlfriend to bits (all together now.. 1,2,3.. “Ahhhh”). 9/10

8. Ain’t Got You
It’s about girls taking advantage think they’ve got it all because they are going out with someone with money and fame. A good filler track for an album – nothing special but not crap either. Written by the band. 5 / 10

9. Supersexual
This is another top choon! It’s about a girl that all the guys want basically. The guy in the song is basically saying why he wants her! Smooth! Written by the band. Written by the band. 9/10.

10. Don’t Treat Me Like A Fool.
A slower song. Like most love songs – it’s about feeling blue (hahaha!! – sorry I’ll behave). The guy telling his girlfriend basically not to rub it in that they have broken up and not to “treat him like a fool”. A nice song. 8/10.

11. Get Down
It’s about the guys giving the girls what they wanted but they won’t be taken for granted. Similar tune to a lot of the songs. Written by Duncan 7/10.

12. Privacy
About a girl who is being mistreated by her boyfriend and the guy being able to give her what she needs. They want some “Privacy – “Turn the volume up, Listen baby girl I like your stuff, Come up close to me, I see, How we gonna get some Privacy?” Written by Anthony and Simon.7/10.

13. Without You
Loving this song! “I couldn’t live without my cell phone, I couldn’t live without my 4x4, I couldn’t live without my credit card, I couldn’t live without you”. Geddit lol? Written by Lee. 7/10.

14. Invitation
What can I say without repeating myself? Another good song - I like it (you get the picture). Written by Simon. 6/10.

15. Like a Friend.
This is also my favourite song. It’s a bit slower than the other songs – but it’s not a “slowie” if you know what I mean. It’s got a good beat. It’s about a guy liking a girl who already had a guy. “What do you do when someone don’t love you? The show you all their feelings.. Like you’re a friend!” Brilliant song to end the album on! Written by Anthony. 10/10!

A total wicked album – even if some of the songs are a bit repetitive. If you like some of Blue’s chart released stuff – I would definitely recommend you go out and buy this!
