One Love, the Bob Marley Tribute Concert filmed amidst the beauty of Oracabessa Bay, ... more
Jamaica, in December 1999, is a joyful celebration of Bob Marleys music and enduring legacy.Includes one hour of additional material that was not included in the TNT broadcast of the concert, plus bonus tracks.
Conceived with DVD release in mind, this high-end, live video concert taped in Jamaica ... more
lives up to its title with a generous repertoire of Bob Marley songs performed by reverent pop, hip-hop, rock and reggae veterans. Shot on a rainy night in December 1999, the home video version expands upon an inaugural TNT cable telecast with an additional hour of performances. The DVD edition adds a premium level of special features and exclusive content. The music's the main thing, of course, and on that frontOne Loveis uniformly respectful, orbiting around Marley's songs and infused with whiffs of his Rastafarian world view and reggae's broader Third World perspectives. Marley's family members serve as hosts and frequent collaborators, with a limber house band further reinforcing a coherent, communal element to the performances, and the titular all-stars immerse themselves in Marley's world. Lauryn Hill opens the concert with what is clearly one of its highest points, a joyful "Turn the Lights Down Low". Chrissie Hynde and Erykah Badu take turns duetting with Jimmy Cliff, and another reggae titan, Toots Hibbert, proves a perfect, ebullient fit with a current line-up of the Wailers. The celebrity choices include a conspicuous subset of American folk-rockers in Tracy Chapman, Ben Harper and Hootie and the Blowfish's Darius Rucker, with Chapman the most convincing in a glowing version of "Three Little Birds".Avid reggae fans may be mildly frustrated by the overall crossover thrust of this homage, which favours Yankee rap and hip-hop (via Busta Rhymes and Queen Latifah) instead of home-grown dancehall; it tantalises us with glimpses of Marley's peers, like Cliff and Hibbert, while being largely occupied with sustaining its parade of non-reggae marquee names. For most viewers, though, the scope of the concert and the first-rate sonic finish will sustain the spell, an effect powerfully expanded on the superb DVD version. --Sam Sutherland, Amazon.com

...sitting looking at me The One love double CD which has got 79 minutes of superb music, for £4 who could turn there nose up at that, ME I haggled and got it for £3.50…(why on earth did they want to sell such brilliant music is beyond me)
Now I will name all of these superb songs as they are on the discs. I will also sing the first few words of the song in question so you can start and sing along with me.

If I had to name my favourite singer it would be Bob Marley or if I had to name my favourite group it would be Bob Marley and the Wailers.
I love listening to the way he tells you about things in his songs, as most of us reggae fans know Bob sang many a song to inform the people of Jamaica what was going on. (By this I mean the people who couldn’t read the newspapers) When there was so much unrest in the country.
I own most of Bob Marleys Albums. Including …Rebel Music…Rastaman Vibration…Burnin….Natural mystic…survival.. To name a few.
I knew this double album came out 29th October 2001, but money being strapped to waste on records, I had to resign myself to not having it and to be happy with what I had already got. It was about £15.99 to buy new. I think the price may have come down now by a few pounds in most major record stores.
But lo and behold last week I went to a jumble sale in a neighbours garage (should I say garage sale) and what was there sitting looking at me The One love double CD which has got 79 minutes of superb music, for £4 who could turn there nose up at that, ME I haggled and got it for £3.50…(why on earth did they want to sell such brilliant music is beyond me)

WARNING… I know you can’t really hear me singing…. BUT imagine it, you have just settled down to reading my review (I HOPE) and think to yourself yes, we’ll have a bit of a sing song whilst smoking our joint and chilling. By smoking our joint I mean the joint of beef I forgot about in the oven, that is now slightly burnt because this op took me such a long time to write. That’s another subject though.
As I was saying, imagine me singing I’m tone deaf slightly mad but still love groaning along with Bob. So relax and enjoy these brilliant songs.
DISC ONE….. 1. Stir It Up (Stir it up, little darlin, stir it up) 2. Get Up Stand Up (Get Up, Stand Up, stand up for your right) 3. I Shot The Sheriff (I shot the sheriff, but I didn't shoot no deputy) 4. Lively Up Yourself (You're gonna lively up yourself) 5. No Woman No Cry (No woman, no cry) 6. Roots, Rock, Reggae (Play I some music, this a reggae music) 7. Exodus (Exodus, movement of Jah people) Meaning Gods people. 8. Jamming (Ooh, yeah! All right! We're jamming 9. Waiting In Vain (I don’t wanna wait in vain for your love) 10. Three Little Birds (Don't worry about a thing )11. Turn Your Lights Down Low ( Turn your lights down low) 12. One Love/People Get Ready (One love one heart)13. Is This Love ( I wanna love you and treat you right) 14. Sun Is Shining (Sun is shining, the weather is sweet ) 15. Rastaman Live Up (Rasta man live up) 13 Who Colt The Game (ye ye ye)
When you buy this CD you will notice that the picture on the front of the CD case shows Bob in his younger years when his Rasta plaits where still in their growth period, which was a little bit disappointing for me as I just loved admiring his plaits when they had grown to a decent length.
What more can I say buy this CD if you have the chance and listen carefully to the words of each song and a story evolves of what he was trying to tell us (In most songs) and enjoy.
i must admit many of the tracks on this album are outdated and aren\'t the greatest but if you have listened to most of bob\'s other stuff then it really is intresting to dive into the VERY early stuff. All these tracks are ska really and aren\'t very complex or have very deep lyrics but you just have to take into account how young he was and inexperienced and how old the songs are. Dont buy this unless you are a true marley fan and are intrested in his earlier stuff, done expect to much and you will find it intresting and completely different to any of his other albums due to the youngness of his voice. Not a must to a collection but a very intresting and different sounding album. Many tracks on here you will find hard to find any where else as they are origionals so if you think you may recognise a track \'chances are\' it will be ...
Advantages: Wonderful stuff Disadvantages: Teetering on the bland
The reggae album to top all other reggae albums, it is true to say that Exodus by BobMarley and The Wailers was the record that truly broke reggae onto the world stage when it came into the light of day during the punk rock surge of 1977.
No one disliked reggae except the most right wing of nutters and punks loved the rebel music. BobMarley had already leapt into the spotlight in 1975 with the Live album and its accompanying No Woman No Cry epic single. Eric Clapton's I Shot The Sheriff smash in 1974 paved the way, but it was Exodus that captured the mainstream audience and was taken to that audience's heart.
It was atour de force, still hard enough for the real dubsters (just about) but soft enough to make the Mums happy.
Exodus the single was the highlight of the set, but it was run a close second by Jamming, Waiting In Vain ...
Advantages: all the songs are good Disadvantages: no real disadvantages
BobMarley "Legend" is a greatv CD to have in your collection. Marley was and is still regarded as a regge legend. More than any other artist, he helped bring regge music to mainstream audiences with his excellent songwriting and his gifty ability to sing.. He wrote some of the greatest records, that are still played all over the world.
This cd has Marleys greatest tracks like"Three Little Birds,"OneLove/People Get Ready,"Is This Love", "Buffalo Soldier," ,"Get Up Stand Up" "Jamming. This is truly one of the best albums to have of BobMarley. All the songs that he wrote, had meanings of what applies to everyday life. Like "get up standup- stand up for your rights.
Bob music lives on, with the young, the old, and the newcomers to this world.
In my opion this cd legend establishes BobMarley as one of the most important ...
