the plot
A senior member of the united states navy, from a failed philadelphia experiment leads a team of navy seal soldiers to rescue the team he sent during the Nineteen Forties. eighteen out of twenty ene soldiers go through a time portal and by mistake a dinasour is sent through the time portal. The dinosaur makes it to los angeles. during the nineteen forties dr reno, sent a team through a time warp, that took them back in time to some seventy millionyears ago. Archeological evidence and proof of the mission surfaced. The team is briefed regarding the philadelphia project led by Dr Reno's. Advantages: is this what we were realy like? Disadvantages: why cant we look this good now?
I saw this in of all places a shop, which is more at home selling clothes and not DVD's, (Ethel Austin's) they have them on bargain DVD racks for £3.99.
As I remembered see-in this film many years ago, I thought at that price I'd buy it for my library.
All though the film is titled Onemillionyears BC, after watching the recent showing of ' Walking with cavemen' I'm not so sure the portrayal of the human race in this film is correct, but it still made fascinating viewing.
The film is based around two completely different human tribes, one a warmongering, meat eating, cave dwelling tribe, of very little intelligence, they survive by hunting and there way of life is basically survival of the fittest, and the strongest being there leader.
Whilst the other tribe, is a lot more civilised, much more advanced, living of the land ...
that sued the men (a student of Egyptology) even had a well-respected Egyptologist from Johns Hopkins University vouch for him, since he put his own theories into the story. The only differences between the story and the movie are slight name variations. The issue was finally settled out of court.
Law suits aside, the film is good entertainment and even if you are not well read on ancient history will appeal to fans of old style boys own adventures like Indiana Jones or Tarzan. A well rounded concept, full on action and a few thought provoking ideas for those who dig a bit deeper. Not bad for a quid at a car boot sale and worth catching on TV next time around. Stargate, it will take you a millionlightyearsfromhome..but will it bring you back? ...
