One Nation Underground

Advantages: A unique sound and the best album yet.
Disadvantages: A bit messy in places

One Nation Underground is the third release from Ill Nino. This is yet another step forwards in the Ill Nino sound. The guitars are more complex the drums and percussion are back to full volume after being dissapointingly quiet in "Confession". The album is generally a heavy one with a very high tempo but never delves into the world of thrash. A couple of bad eggs have spoilt what would be one of the best if not the best album of this decade however don't let that put you off as the ratio of good to bad is very high indeed. I've reviewed a few of the songs to give a general idea of the album. I've been as harsh and picky as I can but this is one fantastic album. Track 1: This Is War A fantasic opening to the album, starting with tribal chantes and drums with a thick, distorted guitar hammering over the top which breaks into ...

Out from under

Advantages: Clever, compelling, funny, ultimately moving
Disadvantages: Sometimes too clever by half

Fischer's later books the wordplay too often smacks of being an end in itself, a jeu d'esprit, amusing but one-dimensional and lacking in real-life resonance. Nor are the characters in them as engaging and sympathetic as those in Under The Frog. It is no secret that the story is based closely on the experiences of Fischer's own father, who escaped from Hungary to the West in 1956. This provides both a counterpoint and an anchor. The casually comic passages sparkle all the more because the reality they describe is so serious and sombre. The brutal incompetence of the regime is all the more effectively exposed because the light cast on it is cast light-heartedly. Above all, Under The Frog ...

Review of Under the Frog - Tibor Fischer

Well Keep 'Em Under There

Advantages: A couple of decent tunes
Disadvantages: Inconsistent

Released in 2005 ?From Under The Cork Tree? came as the third album from the Emo, Pop Punk band Fall Out Boy. Consisting of the likes of Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump and Joe Troughman, they finally found mainstream success when the brought out with album and managed to get some of their singles out to the masses, and it even led to their lead singer and guitarist, Stump, being used on projects from acts which aren?t even directly linked to his genre of music with Lupe Fiasco, the Roots and Tyga all getting some kind of input from him on their albums around this time due to this breakthrough. 1. ?Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn?t Get Sued? They get the album going with a powerful display which seesm to led you in nicely and appears to really take you in with their material as they come with a nice little Pop ...
