different nights at a series of Bon Jovi concerts spanning three decades. But why be pedantic when the result is a live album that effectively doubles as a greatest hits collection? Bon Jovi's songs have always sounded tailor-made for stadiums and arenas and the choices here all sound bigger than life, from classic fists-in-the-air rockers ("Livin' On A Prayer", "Bad Medicine", "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Runaway") to lighters-in-the-air numbers ("Keep The Faith", "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "Something To Believe In"). The career-re-launching single "It's My Life" sounds right at home here, as do two great cover versions: Neil Young's "Rockin' In The Free World" (recorded, appropriately enough, in Johannesburg in 1995) and the Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" (performed with Sir Bob Geldof). One Wild Nightis the perfect companion piece to Bon Jovi's Best Of collectionCrossroad, only this time, there's an audience.--Robert Burrow

"Bon Jovi" and "Live" usually mean something utterly breathtaking : Indeed, they have never failed to amaze me when they are live.

Maybe I’m a sceptic, but I just feel that Dollar signs lit up in someone’s eyes - Yet another thing for us fans to buy, and sure why not include the songs that everyone knows so that we can pull in an even bigger market.
As for the songs on the album, they are all great live songs, and I would say that any Bon Jovi fan would love it as it includes a lot of the songs played during the recent Crush and One Wild Night Concerts. But I do have a problem with it. The selection of songs is very limited - 8 of them are contained on the Crossroads Album and 3 are from the Crush Album. They fail to include two of their best live songs, "Raise Your Hands" or "Wild in the Streets", and a major mistake - they do not follow "Bad Medicine" with "Shout" as is so very customary of Bon Jovi during concerts.
Despite my complaints, I do enjoy listening to this. As I said, Bon Jovi Live are amazing, and if you have ever seen them live then this album lets you sit back, close your eyes and be transported back to a brilliant night.
So what’s on the album?
It’s My Life - Really well known, absolute cracker song live. This does not sound exactly like the version that you are used to, but is still very good.
Livin’ on a Prayer - a big crowd participation one that is obvious from this recording of what must be one of Bon Jovi’s most famous songs.
You Give Love a Bad Name - another one that is also on the Crossroads compilation, this is a good one live.
Keep the Faith is another popular song by Bon Jovi, the one on this album was taken from a concert that they performed in New York last year.
Someday I’ll be Saturday Night, this version was performed in Melbourne, Australia in 1995 - their last gig there until the One Wild Night one earlier this year, this song is from the Crossroads Album and is great live. Pure Bon Jovi.
Rockin’ in the Free World was performed in South Africa in 1995, I’m told that this was the first concert that Bon Jovi played there.
Something to Believe in is a not so well known song but it is good all the same - this version was performed to a Japanese crowd.
Wanted Dead or Alive - One of the Band’s most popular songs live, especially for the cowboy era fans, this one was also performed in New York last year.
Runaway was Bon Jovi’s first hit. This version was performed in 1985 to a crowd in Tokyo - right back in the beginning.
In and Out of Love, was played at the same concert, yet another of their early hits.
I don’t like Mondays was a double act between Bon Jovi and Bob Geldoff in Wembley 1985 as part of the "These Days" tour, I remember listening to this as it was played live on the radio - I will always love this version.
Just Older is a recent song from the Crush Album, and was played in Toronto last year as part to the band’s Crush Tour.
Something for the Pain, straight off the These Days Tour in 1995 in their promotion of the album in Australia.
Bad Medicine - yet another classic Bon Jovi song. This version was played in Zurich.
One Wild Night in Toronto, 2000, saw one of the bands most recent hits being played - the song that the latest tour is named after and consequently this album - and brings back memories of one wild night that I will never ever forget.
In all, I would say this album is good - but not as good as it could have been. Sorry guys, no full marks this time!
Advantages: excellent music Disadvantages: have been on other albums
...hits album but it isn’t!!! One Wild Night is a CD put together from live recordings of songs from all over the world between 1985 and 2001. It is much much more than a collection of old tunes.
For my 17th birthday I went to see my long term heroes actually on my birthday in Stoke football grounds and it was an amazing performance, this is a band that puts it’s heart and sole into the music and you get the impression that you wouldn’t ... ...sure my Dad couldn’t get one leg into Jon’s tight leather trousers…
Oh and also on the CD is “I don’t Like Monday’s” a duet with Bob Geldof…a cracking track I’ve not seen on any of the other Bon Jovi albums
Do I need to tell you about the style of music? I hope not. I think they’re reputation should fill in the gaps, basically they are a group of 4 sexy blokes (although Tico does have ...

I first heard Bon Jovi around 18 years ago, when I was going to rock clubs, the first song I heard was "runaway" and I just loved it soo much!!, I bought their album eventually and then all the rest from there on. They produced brilliant singles, such as "wanted Dead or alive" and the wonderful living on a prayer.
I also saw them live and would recommend them to anyone!!
However as groups do they went quiet and started doing solo careers and films ...

Advantages: Great tunes, good quality recordings Disadvantages: edit gaps, no 'feel' of a live gig
...feel of actually being at one of the bands gigs.
The problem I have with this album is the decision to use different recordings of various songs from a range of different concerts, and there is an annoying edit gap of a couple of seconds between each track. This robs the album of all sense of being a live album in the sense of a recording of a concert, and rather just sounds like a collection of live tracks taken from B-sides. In fact a number of ... ...but think that actually recording ONE gig or even two and properly editing it together would have resulted in a better representation of the BJ live show rather than a rather haphazard collection of tracks that are feature on ‘One Wild Night’. Most fans will love it, but most will agree that it could have been better ...

Advantages: Its Live, Good songs Disadvantages: Missing a few classics
I have been a fan of Bon Jovi for some time now and have always found the concert or live performances to be of a high standard so you can imagine my excitement when I found out there was a live album out!!!
Released on the 14th May 2001 it contains 15 tracks from 1998 to 2001 taken from their numerous world tours. From Zurich to Tokyo, London to New York and Toronto to Melbourne with tracks from Yokohama and Johannesburg too this album encapsulates, ... ...atmosphere, the interaction with the crowd and the energy is all there in this album.
Many of Bon Jovi’s famous tracks are here: “Livin’ on a Prayer”, “Keep the Faith”, and “You give Love a Bad Name”. Plus the most recent ones: “It’s My Life” and “One Wild Night”. There is also a special appearance from Sir Bob Geldof singing, “I don’t like Mondays” (a ...

Album Notes
Bon Jovi: Jon Bon Jovi (vocals, guitar); Bob Geldof (vocals); Richie Sambora (guitar, background vocals); David Bryan (keyboards, background vocals); Hugh McDonald, Alec John Such (bass, background vocals); Tico Torres (drums). Producers: Obie O'Brien, Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Luke Ebbin, Desmond Child. Recorded at various locations between April 28, 1985 & November 27, 2000. Includes liner notes by Lonn Friend. Following a five-year hiatus that found Jon Bongiovi pursuing an acting career, these Jersey boys emerged with the millennial CRUSH, an album that found them making a mini-comeback marked by chart success and Grammy nominations. On the heels of this wave of prosperity comes ONE WILD NIGHT, taken from a collection of hand-picked live gigs meant to reward long-standing fans (who've clamored for a concert album) and give newer ones a taste of Bon Jovi's career-spanning global performances. In the 15-year span covered on this record, it's interesting to hear Bon Jovi's creative development. You get in-Japan versions of their breakout hit "Runaway" and "In And Out Of Love," an early number soaked in the crunching guitar and hard-hitting rhythms of the band's pop-metal origins. The flip side finds these same guys as family men pouring themselves into introspective fare like "Just Older." In between are Zippo-worthy renditions of "Livin' On A Prayer," "Something For The Pain" and the title track. Best of all are surprise covers of "I Don't Like Mondays" (performed in London with Bob Geldolf on the 10th anniversary of Live Aid) and a ferocious "Rockin' In The Free World" recorded in South Africa shortly after Nelson Mandela's release.
