Disadvantages: Everything about this pathetic attempt at an opera

...Andre Previn and his librettist, Philip Littell have performed a remarkable feat: they have taken what could have and should have been a tremendous opera, and managed to do everything wrong that could possibly be done wrong. Here is one of the greatest - if not the greatest - play ever written, which in its power and intensity is basically an opera already. Now - music presumably enhances the drama in an opera, intensifying the dramatic highlights, so if anything this should have had twice the power. Instead, Previn and Litell have concocted an "opera" entirely devoid of either dramatic or musical impact. Start with the libretto. The "librettist" has for all practical purposes merely taken ninety percent of the play script verbatim, and called it a libretto. ...When I first saw this cd i was very unsure of whether it will be worth it. i decided to go ahead and purchase the cd. although i did think that the idea of collaberating east and west is brilliant, i did not enjoy the way that the indian music has almost been comprimised to accomadate the western touch. infact, what i would have preferred is a parallel unity allowing both the western and eastern music to become one. in this cd i felt as though it was just western music being played on a sitar and that ravi shankar ji has done much better and i would clearly reccomened all his other cds. for collaberated music, i reccomned looking for an album by the indian violinist L.Subramaniam. not only is he a master in the music of south and north india (very few people know both) but he is also a master of western music and has written superb... ...After his appearance on I'm a celebrity Peter Andre has tried to re-launch his music carrier. Back in the early nineties he had a hit called Mysterious girl which was very poor to say the least, but when he saw the chance he tried to re-launch his carrier after the series of I’m a celebrity. After the show he re-released Mysterious girl and has now done Insania which people were talking about as he write it whilst in the jungle. I remember all my mates singing the tune, which is rather catchy but after a while it is a bit boring. In the jungle he made it to be a fast beat track but it was not to be as it has turned out to be slow and rather boring much like mysterious girl. His new album is called the long road back. The album name says it all but not to truth. It is along road back, but the album is just his way of trying... Read review
