Advantages: Very beautiful in terms of artwork, vocals and instruments Disadvantages: Not commercially successful but who cares anyway?
...The OpenDoor is an excellent follow-up to Fallen. But has suffered due to the gap between the release of Fallen (April 2003) and the release of The OpenDoor (2006) but The OpenDoor does contain the consistency that was produced and displayed by the 1st album.
The first thing you notice is that there is more effort put into this album by Amy Lee and Terry Balsamo firstly in terms of the artwork. It looks stunning with the beautiful image of Amy Lee standing next to "The OpenDoor." The artwork and the music are both magnificent in terms of their category.
Just like Fallen, each song is distinctive and separate from each other and have a message of their own, although many argue that the songs are very similar. But they would be if you use the same instruments and same leading singer!

Advantages: Great songs, great vocals, lovely album cover Disadvantages: "Your Star"
...As a big fan of Evanescence's first major album "Fallen", back in 2003, I had high expectations for "The OpenDoor". When I found out in the summer that they had a new album coming out, I could barely wait until October, and scoured the internet searching for pre-release reviews of the long-awaited record.
And when I finally got it, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed it on the first listen through, but on the second and then the third (and so on), I loved it! A lot of the songs are very good, and in my view, there's only one track that lets the album down, which is "Your Star".
Having read the other reviews on here for this CD, I was quite surprised at the response from the reviewers and the comments received, and I seem to be alone in my view that this was a great album! Nevertheless, I shall continue with this review in an effort...
