...The Open Door is an excellent follow-up to Fallen. But has suffered due to the gap between the release of Fallen (April 2003) and the release of The Open Door (2006) but The Open Door does contain the consistency that was produced and displayed by the 1st album.
The first thing you notice is that there is more effort put into this album by Amy Lee and Terry Balsamo firstly in terms of the artwork. It looks stunning with the beautiful image of Amy Lee standing next to "The Open Door." The artwork and the music are both magnificent in terms of their category.
Just like Fallen, each song is distinctive and separate from each other and have a message of their own, although many argue that the songs are very similar. But they would be if you use the same instruments and same leading singer!

Advantages: Great harmony, great lyrics, feels great to move to. Disadvantages: Can be considered "Chick Music"
...of more Dixie Chicks and bought their Wide Open Spaces CD without having heard any of the songs off of it. Daring, I know, but I felt it was a good risk. If I didn’t like it, I could sell it on Ebay for a profit.
Upon first listening, I fell in love with it. I listened to it all the time. I took it on vacation to my best friend’s house and she fell in love with it too. I ended up leaving the CD with her and buying another copy of it for myself. I cleaned house to it, I got ready for work to it, I listened to it at work. It was great for everything. This has got to be one of my all time, top ten favorite CDs.
