Advantages: Excellent score and lyrics, engrossing storyline Disadvantages: can be difficult to follow, some of the track switchovers change pace a little too quickly
lose the plotline ..... and by the time you have regained it, it bears no resemblance to the story you remember following. That is not the case with Mindcrime, except for the fact that the story begins and ends at the same point, with the main body of it being told in flashback form.
The story itself is concerned with an American street kid named Nicky, angry and bitter at the hand that life has dealt him, he joins an underground subversive organisation fronted by the sinister Doctor X (Anthony Valentine) and is brainwashed into becoming a hitman for their 'order', used to kill and replace religious and political leaders in an attempt to bring their order into power and remove corruption from the highest levels of authority.
Unfortunately Nicky meets a nun (Sister Mary) on one of his missions, and falls for her ....... giving him ...
Advantages: Some slight humour Disadvantages: Characters and Plot is unrealistic and there isnt too much depth to it
I had never read any of Jenny Colgan?s books before, so I didn?t quite know what to expect when I read Operation Sunshine as I couldn?t compare it to any of her other books. Jenny Colgan has written quite a few books and from what I gather mostly all of her books are Chic Lit. Even although i had never read any of her books before I had heard of a few of her more popular ones such as Amanda?s Wedding, West End Girl?s and the most recent Diamond?s are a Girl?s best friend. Operation Sunshine was released in June 2008 prior to Diamond?s are a Girl?s Best Friend in May 2009.
Operation Sunshine is a book about 20 something Evie, who is a pretty average girl from the way she is described in the book. She works as a receptionist for 2 plastic surgeons in a Harley Street Clinic, where there are lots of people of all ages coming and going ...
Advantages: superb album packed with great songs Disadvantages: the band no longer exist with this lineup
This album is by far the best thing Queensryche have ever done. It is a concept album and tells the story of a brainwashed hitman.
Ok the idea sounds naff I admit but the songs are superb and it fits together like a jigsaw.
The highlights are too many to mention but the final track eyes of a stranger will get in your brain and make you play it again and again.
The music is hard rock but has a lot of quieter moments and it shows off a high standard of musicianship coupled with the ability to write good songs (A rare mix these days).
The inluences are rush and ironmaidedn i suppose with various other things thrown in.
If you buy 1 album this year get this. You won't regret it. ...

Album Notes
Jet City pomp-metallers Queensryche left their denim-jacketed fanbase hanging for close to two decades following the release of 1988's OPERATION: MINDCRIME, an Orwellian sci-fi concept album, and the subsequent chart success of its 1990 follow-up, EMPIRE. Frontman Geoff Tate (credited here as "Leader") returns to finish the tale as if the 1990s never happened, offering up a brace of unadulterated '80s metal that, miraculously, sounds in step with where the band left off and at the same time, given early-2000s nostalgia trends, seems ahead of the curve. Caught between the epic arena-prog of Rush and the grungy grit of Alice in Chains, Tate infuses OPERATION: MINDCRIME II with a passion and craftsmanship that virtually all his former peers have abandoned, leading the charge to bring his own music back to public adoration. To wit, "An Intentional Confrontation" borrows heavily from Roy Thomas Baker's work with Queen, "Murderer" storms with the fire of a hair-metal Nine Inch Nails, and "I'm American" reaffirms Queensryche's blustery roots. All in all, OPERATION: MINDCRIME II is an excellent, if unexpected, return to form.
