Advantages: Excellent score and lyrics, engrossing storyline Disadvantages: can be difficult to follow, some of the track switchovers change pace a little too quickly
lose the plotline ..... and by the time you have regained it, it bears no resemblance to the story you remember following. That is not the case with Mindcrime, except for the fact that the story begins and ends at the same point, with the main body of it being told in flashback form.
The story itself is concerned with an American street kid named Nicky, angry and bitter at the hand that life has dealt him, he joins an underground subversive organisation fronted by the sinister Doctor X (Anthony Valentine) and is brainwashed into becoming a hitman for their 'order', used to kill and replace religious and political leaders in an attempt to bring their order into power and remove corruption from the highest levels of authority.
Unfortunately Nicky meets a nun (Sister Mary) on one of his missions, and falls for her ....... giving him ...
Advantages: Some slight humour Disadvantages: Characters and Plot is unrealistic and there isnt too much depth to it
I had never read any of Jenny Colgan?s books before, so I didn?t quite know what to expect when I read Operation Sunshine as I couldn?t compare it to any of her other books. Jenny Colgan has written quite a few books and from what I gather mostly all of her books are Chic Lit. Even although i had never read any of her books before I had heard of a few of her more popular ones such as Amanda?s Wedding, West End Girl?s and the most recent Diamond?s are a Girl?s best friend. Operation Sunshine was released in June 2008 prior to Diamond?s are a Girl?s Best Friend in May 2009.
Operation Sunshine is a book about 20 something Evie, who is a pretty average girl from the way she is described in the book. She works as a receptionist for 2 plastic surgeons in a Harley Street Clinic, where there are lots of people of all ages coming and going ...
Advantages: superb album packed with great songs Disadvantages: the band no longer exist with this lineup
This album is by far the best thing Queensryche have ever done. It is a concept album and tells the story of a brainwashed hitman.
Ok the idea sounds naff I admit but the songs are superb and it fits together like a jigsaw.
The highlights are too many to mention but the final track eyes of a stranger will get in your brain and make you play it again and again.
The music is hard rock but has a lot of quieter moments and it shows off a high standard of musicianship coupled with the ability to write good songs (A rare mix these days).
The inluences are rush and ironmaidedn i suppose with various other things thrown in.
If you buy 1 album this year get this. You won't regret it. ...

Additional personnel: Pamela Moore (vocals). Recorded at Kajem/Victory Studios, Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. Includes liner notes by Paul Suter. Queensryche: Geoff Tate (vocals, whistle, keyboards); Michael Wilton (acoustic 12-string guitar, electric 6-string guitar, 6-string guitar); Chris DeGarmo (acoustic 12-string guitar, electric 6-string guitar, lap steel guitar, guitar synthesizer); Scott Rockenfield (keyboards, drums, percussion); Eddie Jackson (bass guitar). The album that preceded this release, RAGE FOR ORDER, came as a surprise to some fans because of the group's appropriation of electronic sound-generating techniques. Undeterred, the band composed its most challenging work yet, the epic concept album OPERATION: MINDCRIME. Originally issued in 1988, the hard-edged album slowly worked its way up the charts and became the band's first gold-certified release (an opening slot on Def Leppard's sold-out HYSTERIA tour certainly didn't hurt, either). The story-line centers on a drug addict who falls in love with a former prostitute turned nun. Together, they uncover a dangerous underground movement and try to stop it before it's too late. OPERATION: MINDCRIME remains Queensryche's best and most consistent release--most of the tracks can be enjoyed out of the context of the storyline on the strength of their songwriting and instrumental performances. Individual standouts include the two popular MTV hits "I Don't Believe in Love" and "Eyes of a Stranger," as well as the lesser-known "Anarchy X," "Revolution Calling," the title track, "Speak," "Spreading the Disease," and the more than 10-minute long epic "Suite Sister Mary." For fans of metal with a prog-rock edge, OPERATION: MINDCRIME is definitely one of the '80's best.
