I would advise anyone not familar with this band but into any form of metal including death metal, that they should by this album first!! They are a very unique band and hard to put into a genre or sub genre as the amazing eclectic playing shows influences from blues, Jazz and Psychedelic rock from the 70's.
Although only having 7 songs, 5 of them are around 10 or more minutes long. Despite ... ...in fact they are often intricate mixture of distorted, clean and acoustic sounding guitars that they have managed to perfectly run into one another without sounding the least bit forced or out of place.
I have spent a lot of time reviewing this finding it increasing hard to describe all i can say it is a stunning album that i will never forget. ...

Advantages: Deep vocals, guitars, drums, EVERYTHING Disadvantages: Others may prefer more later opeth releases
...Just an exceptional peice of black metal, seriously this album hasnt left my CD player for 1 month.Amazing deep vocals.Standout track :forrest of october, having bought this last as i bought all of opeths other releases first. I was expecting it to be a bit experimental and Opeth not to have realy defined the direction they were going with their music. But i was not dissapointed, for the Melodic guitars to the enticing vocals. This album has limitless potential and is what made opeth great today. The album is extreemly heavy, then extreemly unheavy at the same time. I think this stye that opeth have adopted make them the best band in the well aside tool, pantera, a perfect circle and porcupine tree of couse.I truly recomend it to you....

Advantages: Bonus Track Disadvantages: Includes their less known songs
...This is one of many awesome albums produced by Opeth.
There are 7 tracks and a Bonus.
1 In the midst she was standing.
2 Under the weeping moon
3 Silhouette
4 Forest of October
5 The twilight is my robe
6 Requiem
8 The apostle in triumph
Bonus
9 Into the frost of winter
The quality of the bonus track is not as refined as the rest of the album, they must have produced this a long time ago.
The style on this album is very similar to Opeths normal Progressive style, with it's banging riffs and soulful melodies.
Overall, I would suggest you purchase this album if you are a big fan.
If you are new to all things Opeth, I would suggest Blackwater Park, as it has more of their well known songs....

Advantages: Best band on the planet, a good mix of heavy and mellow Disadvantages: Only one, but you'll need to read this to find out
...no one else in the band was told about Mikael, which included their current bassist). After much turmoil in the band, that saw many members join and leave the band, including Isberg, they eventually found their feet, got a contract through Candlelight Records, and in 1994 released their debut 'Orchid'.
Since 'Orchid' Opeth have released several albums; 'Morningrise' (1996), 'My Arms, Your Hearse' (1998), 'Still Life' (1999), 'Blackwater Park' (2001), 'Deliverance' (2002), 'Damnation' (2003) and in 2005 'Ghost Reveries'. In the 11 years since 'Orchid', the band line up has changed a couple of times, starting with; Mikael Akerfeldt (vocals/guitar), Peter Lindgren (guitars), Johan DeFarfalla (session bass on 'Orchid', who later joined the band) and Anders Nordin (drums). The 2005 line up is now a 5 piece with Akerfeldt and Lindgren...
