Original Guitar Wizard, The - Lonnie Johnson

Advantages: Amazing guitaring, classic tunes, good sound
Disadvantages: no dramatics apart from the playing

...I have recently bought this DVD and to sum it up straight away it is briliant. Eric performs on the Austin City Limits TV Show But don't by this DVD if your expecting fireworks and stage dramatics!! The reason for this is that Eric Johnson is a perfectionist, he wants every note perfect, while watching Cliffs of Dover you will notice a shake of the head when he muffles 1 note by mistake!! He even such a perfectionist he even makes sure he uses certain batteries in his pedals as that can affect the sound. But back to the DVD, recorded in Austin Texas 14th December 1988. Eric on guitar, Kyle Brock on bass and Tommy Taylor on drums. The sounds Eric can get off his guitar are out of this world. The band are very tight and Johnsons Improvising skills are amazing. ...This is one film which has certainly stood the test of time. It is the original and still the best portrayal of the excellent story The Wizard of Oz. A marvel in it's day as the film was partly in full colour. It was originally planned to be just monochrome but the producers decided that the film was so magical that the land of Oz deserved to be portrayed in full colour so hence the black and white start and finish. Judy Garland puts on a great performance as do the other actors. No need to bore you with what the film is about, I'm sure everyone knows the story. This is an endearing film which all children should watch, adults too if you've not seen it. It is fantasy at its very best.... Read review

...Ephiphone is great brand .This guitar is good for all condition .This one had the biggest "bark" and was the easiest on the fingers. This model have a good points: -The guitar has "bling" -The guitar has "bark" -The setup was perfect -There were no flaws that I could detect to the workmanship About the quality this is Rivals the high-priced Gibson counterpart in sound and playability. Is this the best acoustic in the world, NO. Would you see many artist on stage at a major venue playing this thing, probably not. BUT, for only $400 , it sounds DAMN GOOD, plays extremly well, and seeing how I doubt I will ever play a major venue, who cares if major artist aren't playing one. You must take it for your music style... Read review
