Original Soundtrack, The - 10cc

Advantages: comprehensive
Disadvantages: could've been a double cd package instead

...If you would have to score a cd of 10CC, make it this retrospective album of the band. Quite a definitive compilation - it includes the very first incarnation of the four members of this band as Hotlegs w/ their single "Neanderthal Man", up to the two remaining members Stewart and Gouldman's final schtick as 10CC w/ the single "Dreadlock Holiday" from the BLOODY TOURISTS album; + this also contains the other half of the band playing as Godley&Creme, w/ their songs "Under Your Thumb", and the mtv overkilled "Cry". The cd also features the full album version of their top 10 hit "I'm Not In Love" from THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK lp, and also from that same album, is their own take on rock opera -the comedic "Une Nuit A Paris (Parts 1 to 3)". Advantages: Good music, different, versatile
Disadvantages: 10cc disadvantages? Never!

...cc originated from. One story is that the name appeared to Jonathan King in dream. The other explanation being that the average male ejaculation is 9cc and as these were 'super' men they should be 10cc. I'll leave you to make up your own minds. Advantages: Great uplifting tracks; defines summer; soulful; bargain

...it with an additional 6 tracks. The remix of 'Annie I'm not your daddy' isn't as good as the original album version but I love having the 12" of 'I'm a wonderful thing baby.' BEST SONGS: Annie I'm not your daddy - distinctly Caribbean feel. Really infectious tune and the steel drum arrangements are sublime. This to me encapsulates summer. Still a floor filler! I'm a wonderful thing, baby - my favourite song. Again this is a distinctly summer track and is definitely early 1980s soul/disco. It's hard not to love it. Lyrics are meant to be tongue in cheek and although it's hard to pin-point what I find so infectious about it, this song definitely has excellence all over it. Stool pigeon - ha cha cha cha!! The lyrics are hysterical and on a par with stuff that Squeeze & 10cc were churning out in the 70s. Really inventive. The Kid basically raps throughout... Read review
