Advantages: Old songs brought up to date Disadvantages: reminds us how old we are !
...In Love ".
Originally by ElvisPresley , and later a huge cover hit for UB40 , Andy chose this song .Sung in true Elvis fashion , better than the original and UB40 version.
10) " You've Lost That Loving Feeling ".
The Righteous Brothers massive hit also a huge cover hit for Robson & Jerome . Chosen by Andy , who submits a wonderful vocalisation of this timeless classic love song.
11) " Goodnight ".
Chosen by Andy , this song was originally written/released by Cliff Eberhardt , and was later successfully covered by Buffy Saint-Marie .A soulful rendition of a great song.
12) " Video Killed The Radio Star ".
1979 saw the release of this by Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes , under the guise of The Buggles ( written by Trevor Horn ) . A truely great synth-pop song , this just had to be chosen by the synth guru Vince . Andy loved the song...

Advantages: Classic Elvis music , good value , great songs , Elvis in his prime Disadvantages: May be dated for some
...In 1960 a brown parcel arrived at our house addressed to my 13 ½ year old sister . No-one in the family , apart from my sister, knew what it contained .We sat at the living room table and she opened it .Bursting with curiosity we all watched .
It contained an official letter from the ElvisPresley fan club stating that , my sister was now a fully paid-up member of the ElvisPresley Fan Club . It contained all the Photographs , Posters and other Paraphernalia associated with ElvisPresley .
A few days later my sister arrived home with my dad after a shopping trip . She had bought her very first L.P. (long playing record to you young things ) . It was G. I .Blues by Elvis . Well we all enjoyed it immensely . My sister and I danced around the house every day for a month . I couldn't do it now for a minute .

Advantages: Easier listening than his usual albums. Disadvantages: Only for lovers of gospel and R&B
...selection of songs.
Track 1: Little Sister
Track originally recorded by ElvisPresley. Done in a much more gospelly manner. 'Little Sister Don't you Cheat on me ….like your big sister done' Excellent
Track 2: Go Home Girl
The girl in question is his best friend's wife. Enough said, jaunty slow little song about conscience. Excellent.
Track 3: Very Thing That Makes You Rich Makes Me Poor
What is this 'thing'? If I tell you it belongs to a woman then maybe you can guess. Bluesy lament. Excellent.
Track 4: I Think It's Going To Work Out Fine
Album loses a bit of momentum at this track. Bit of shapeless R&B, but that's my opinion!
Track 5: Down In Hollywood
Still losing momentum in my opinion. Very up-tempo chaotic little track with a kind of a narrative about the dangers of Hollywood. Not my type of R&B but know people who love it.
Track 6...

Advantages: The King At His Best Disadvantages: None
...When I heard that Aloha was going to be reedited I was a little bit skeptical. However I can confirm that the job that ElvisPresley Enterprises has done is superb.
We get 2 discs packed full of features, you get 17 minutes of Elvis arriving in Hawaii on the 9th January. It is nice to see the King interacting with the asembled crowds.
We then get the rehearsal concert and the main concert reedited from scratch will all new camera angles and improved sound. Let me tell you it is like watching a new concert.
Disc 2 starts with all the takes of the extra song elvis recorded for insertion into the American broadcast of the show. We see a very tired but extremely professional Elvis doing his best to get the job done.
The disc ends with the original broadcast as it was seen in America in April 1973. A very nice touch.
If anyone has any...

Advantages: Early Elvis. A mix of traditional and rock'n'roll Christmas songs. Disadvantages: Yey another of many Christmas Albums
...For a number of decades, it was the vogue for popular artistes to release a Christmas CD. Stars including Frank Sinatra, ElvisPresley, The Carpenters, Andy Williams and John Denver (to name but a few) all have al album included in their discography that were released early in their careers and have since been re-mastered.
ElvisPresleyoriginally recorded this, his Christmas album, in the summer of 1957 (and yes I have the vinyl). It was digitally re-mastered and released on CD on October 1999. Accordingly, the sound quality of the music is unsurprisingly good. But what about the songs and Elvis’ rendition?
It was only Elvis’ fourth album and his style is still relatively new, sincere and rich (sadly qualities that seemed to fade as Elvis’ musical career progressed). Each and every song is exquisitely performed in Elvis’ inimitable...
