...By far my most favorite Massive Attack album. I've owned this album for some years and guarantee I will own it for many more. Teardrops is top of list on my All Time Tracks.
The guest singers Massive Attack have on their albums is always of top quality. Mezzanine delivers in all aspects and is what electronic music is all about. Robert Del Naja is the key on this album, a brilliant song writer and vocalist. Inertia Creeps is such a deep song with a fantastic bass line and can really get you in the mood (if you know what I mean).
Massive Attack are continually producing quality albums but they are few and far between. It's what makes them more special. I managed to see Massive Attack at Creamfields a few years ago and they performed Teardrops AND Intertia Creeps Live, amazing.
Mezzanine definately has a more modern electronic feel...

Advantages: a great second album from the Argentinian tango-ists Disadvantages: none
...Gotan Project's first album 'Le Revancha del Tango' took a couple of listens to grow on me. When I heard Lunatico playing, I recognised the sound, although it wasn't a track I'd heard before. After buying the album, I found Lunatico a lot easier to get into then Revancha del Tango, with a more lighthearted feel to it.
It is certainly true that they have managed to go in a different direction then that which they took with Revancha del Tango. Their stated aim in making this album was to go forward by returning to the roots of tango, I haven't heard much tango music, so I can't compare, but they have certainly made another classic.
The stand out track on this album for me was 'Mi Confession' featuring Argentinian rapper Koxmoz.
Overall the album features more collaborations and a a wider mix of flavours then Revancha del Tango...

Advantages: Superb Spanish ska Disadvantages: I prefer their album, El Vals Del Obrero
...I first came across Ska-P when I saw them live at the San Fermin Bull-running festival in Pamplona in 1997. Their energetic performance was one of the highlights of the festival and so I went and bought their first 2 albums, Ska-P & El Vals Del Obrero. At that time I didn't speak a word of Spanish and didn't have much idea about Spanish life and culture. However, through listening to their music I started to pick up some Spanish and it also gave me an insight into Spanish culture.
QUE CORRA LA VOZ is their 4th album and in my opinion it is their 2nd best behind EL VALS DEL OBRERO. Stand out tracks are CONSUMO GUSTO which is about the perils of this consumer society that we live in, McDOLLAR which is about a certain fast food chain and INSENSIBILIDAD which is about neglected pets bought as presents for christmas.
My overall rating...
