OK. Lets get this straight, Godsmack is an average band. Nothing great about them. Yes they have some good songs but nothing more than that. That said, this record is an exception. It really does show Godsmack's other side.

Advantages: Soothing, Great Solos Disadvantages: This isnt the bands real side
...It really does show Godsmack's other side.
This seven track record is an EXTREMELY good record. It shows Godsmack's other side. That side being their acoustic side. Godsmack is a hard rock, electric guitar roaring band. This album on the other hand is unplugged and acoustic.
The record opens with the track RUNNING BLIND. Very soothing track. Has a very good acoustic guitar sound and also has a super acoustic guitar ... ...on this record is really good.
Second track is Re-Align, and this ones my favorite. It has a groovy opening. It seems that there are two acoustic guitars working here. Again, very good vocals on this track and the acoustic solo half-way through the song is really breath taking.
The fourth track VOICES is also a good number and so is the fifth one called KEEP AWAY.

The record opens with the track RUNNING BLIND. Very soothing track. Has a very good acoustic guitar sound and also has a super acoustic guitar solo. Vocals are clean and very well done. Sully's voice on this record is really good.

This record is in my opinion the best Godsmack record. I think they would be better off making this their musical direction.
Advantages: Heavy, aggressive and catchy music Disadvantages: Not as good as the first
I've been a fan of Godsmack ever since hearing the song 'Moonbaby' from their first self titled album. I've always been attracted to their aggressive yet simple and catchy sound and bold vocals. 'Awake' certainly wasn't a let down.
The album kicks off with 'Sick of Life' which is an awesome display of Godsmack's typical aggression and power. The next songs 'Awake' and 'Greed' blend together into a swirl of Godsmack's jackhammer guitar riffs... pure magic. The album then takes a trip into more deep and dirty territory with the songs 'Mistakes' and 'Trippin' where lead vocalist Sully Erna cries out his angst-driven lyrics. Other songs worth of note are 'Spiral' and 'Forgive Me' which shows the more mysterious side to Godsmack.
1. Sick of Life (3:52)
2. Awake (5:04)
Probably the best track on the album. Drops you straight ...

Album Notes
Godsmack: Sully (vocals); Tony (guitar, background vocals); Robbie (bass); Shannon (drums, percussion). The road dogs in Godsmack took some of their precious time off to record acoustic reworkings of their hits, as well as new material. Songs from all three of the group's studio releases are represented on THE OTHER SIDE, which was held off for release as 2003's FACELESS picked up steam, no doubt due in part to the band's unforgiving touring schedule. The band easily shifts gears from their trademark heaviness (in the '90s-era Metallica style) to a vibe that bears obvious comparisons to Alice In Chains (in their "unplugged" incarnation) and Days Of The New. There are impressive new tracks here as well: "Running Blind," "Asleep," and "Voices." Additionally, in a kind nod to original Godsmack guitarist Lee Richards, THE OTHER SIDE also features "Touche," a hint of what to expect from Richards's new band Dropbox.
