Advantages: Classic electro album, remastering adds a real boost Disadvantages: None
...Metamatic was the first solo outing from John Foxx after he split with Ultravox! Ultravox! went on to rather greater fame with the replacement lead singer, some Midge Ure guy but for Ultravox! fans, John Foxx was the real deal.
Metamatic deals with many themes and obsessions such as car crashes, Europe, relationships and too much J G Ballard and Philip K Dick which were bouncing around Foxx's head at the time as well as having elements of a story he was working on (and still is!). The lyrics are often full of grey cold imagery but all laced with an almost minimalist electro sound that was years ahead of it's time. It has to be said, he does also write some plain out and out baffling lyrics too - perhaps he uses the old Bowie 'cut up words' technique sometimes?
Unlike the previous CD release which was fine but sounded like it was a bit...

Advantages: Forms a good bridge between the styles of the 1970s and the more modern styles. Disadvantages: More relevant to the time of the Cold War than now.
...'Under Wraps' concerns itself mainly with issues arising from the Cold War and as such may not be as accessable to a modern audience than it was 22 years ago. The songs are full of original content and the sentiments expressed in them are often topical for the time and set this album somewhat apart from most of Jethro Tull's other albums. To my mind a lot of the music is inferior to that of other albums, but that may just be a prejudice agains too much keyboard based music coming out in me.
That said, for those unfamiliar with certain periods in the Tull repatoire, this album and its predecessor 'Broadsword and the Beast' can form a good link between the earlier styles of the 1970s and the style of music Tull produces today.
The stand out track for me is 'Lap of Luxury'.

Advantages: great quality sound Disadvantages: none buy it!!!
...Ive loved the cure and bought their music since I was 12. I have all their albums and they vary wildly from deep to commercial. as with all good bands the old stuff is the best and it doesnt get better than pornography. I bought this new remastered cd as soon as it came out. The original was good this is perfection. The bass is divine and the music is even deeper than before. This album really needed working on and if you have the original invest in this new version This is definitely worth the money. It sounds much better, and the extras are cool. The demos of some of the songs are really good, especially The Hanging Garden Demo, which has a real cool Robert Smith rhythm guitar sound. There are extra soundtracks so its a treat for any fan. its a double cd, the original was only 1. this album has stood the test of time, its the cures best...
