Advantages: Good story, interesting read, well researched Disadvantages: Some graphic and disturbing scenes, some characters a bit weak
I was lucky enough to receive this proof copy from Waterstones, the second such book I have received from them, so I felt quite lucky when this one arrived at my house! I will be honest and say that this is not the sort of novel I would go for, as you can see from my other book reviews, but I wanted to read it with an open mind, and I did actually enjoy it in the end!
Sadie Jones is an upcoming author and The Outcast is her first novel. I am always a bit wary of debut novels as sometimes they are not the authors best, but I made sure I had no pre-conceptions about this. I couldn't find out much more about the author, except that she lives in London, so that's all I can say really!
Now to the book itself. One of the things I was not keen on was the fact that the book is set in the 1950's, I am not normally a fan of books set in ...
Advantages: Soothes A Sore Throat Disadvantages: Not Very Effective
Well the Cold that I've started suffering from seems to be getting a little bit better so I decided to visit my local Spar this afternoon and couldn't resist stocking up on some of my old childhood favourites. Advantages: Great Storyline, Very well written to engage you into the adventure world of these animals Disadvantages: Little to say here but i guess it could be printed on a little better quality paper to be perfect!
order however does not describe the chronological order of the stories and "The Outcast of Redwall" fits in at published No. 8 but chrono No. 6. (Please dont be concerned that i am so into this series at 21 years of age but i guess that shows how much i love them and how great they are!) The Redwall world is filled with a large variety of animals which seem to be split between good and evil dependant on species. Common evil creatures "vermin" include foxes, rats, weasels, stoats, ferrets, ermine, wildcats and even a wolverine! Where the good creatures of the land consist of animals such as otters, mice, squirrels, moles, hares, voles, hedgehogs, birds, shrews and badgers.
Back to the book in hand, the main character, a young male badger, starts out as a slave held in captivity by a large ferret named Swartt Sixclaw and his small band ...
