I doubt many which is a real shame because albums like this (Overkill) are a real jem amongst the crap rock that wont stand the test of time. Vocals on this album are gruff and heavy and you really can pick Lemmy's voice out from millions of others. Shame that people only seem to know The Ace Of Spades as this band have produced so many other great songs.

This is Motörhead's second album and it showed a massive progression for the band. The chnage paid off because fans consider this to be their best album (and they have had tons)-superceding the Ace of Spaces!
Vocals on this album are gruff and heavy and you really can pick Lemmy's voice out from millions of others. Shame that people only seem to know The Ace Of Spades as this band have produced so many other great songs.
In sound the album is fierce and wild (as a rock album should be) and it does show off the bands thrashy style beautifully. There are some clear punk influences to the band and their trashy messy style suggests this heavily at times.
Introducing this album they deliver the epic title track (5mins long) and this really sets the mood boldly for the rest of the album. Each song that follows is just as high energy as the first and the rock in this album never falters.
Definitely a must have album in the collection of any die-hard metal fan (both old and new).
Advantages: Fast, Heavy and Loud Disadvantages: Bonus tracks on the remastered version not so great.
This one is for the purists. For the first track to the last, you know that this is rock n' roll as it was meant to be- fast, heavy and loud. The title track and album opener Overkill, lets you know straight away what this band is all about. A great riff, pounding drums, and a relentless pace, together with Lemmy's growling vocals, set a standard few bands can get close to. Other highlight include the anthemic No Class, and Damage Case (a song covered by Metallica on their Garage Inc album). Throughout this album, guitarist 'fast' Eddie lets rip with so many incredible rguitar solos, he has to be one of the most underrated guitarists ever. The album has a few slower moments, but they are often pretty good- Metropolis is the best of the slow ones, just a classic mid tempo rocker, which the band still plays live today. But for me ...
Advantages: It's 4 Cd's, it's only around a tenner!! Disadvantages: None really, though some might moan about the lack of extra tracks
If you're a long term fan of Motorhead then you should have all 4 of these albums. If you're a relative newcomer to the band via it's more recent output, then this is a great value way of picking up on the first 'classic' era of the Mighty Motorhead. These are the 4 studio albums that defined the Motorhead sound and saw the band rise from relative obscurity to almost superstardom, hitting the number one spot in the UK album charts, and with spots on TV's Top Of The Pops chart shows as well. 'Ows about that then guys'n'gals! So what all do you get with this little box set then?
All 4 albums are housed in cardboard sleeves that are 'mini' versions of the original vinyl sleeves. There are no extra tracks on these versions, for that you need to splash out on the separate 2-cd deluxe versions of each album, but then for a tenner or less ...
Advantages: Great collection of Metallica covers Disadvantages: Na... Not Today.
