Ja Rule adopts the same formula as the big hits from "Rule 3:36" blending ... ...because for every moment of pain on this album, there is a really romantic track to balance it.
The whole album has a great bass level that will put your stereos to the test and Ja's distinct voice will draw you in further if you give it chance it's almost hypnotic and it really intrigues.

...is just an intro to pain is love with the sound of police cars and talking. This is quite creepy but I don't think it is meant to sound happy. By the end you can only hear a fading news reporter speaking and then it seems to end. 2.DIAL M FOR MURDER-This has a good intro and then the rapping begins which is great with the music. The tune is quite repetitive but it doesn't sound annoying because more music builds into this as it goes on and it really ... ...is one of the best tracks on the album a very catchy tune with great rapping to it. Singing in it is also very good but not singing from Ja Rule. I am sure this song was released in the US. This is a great song for a dance or to relax to and quite a summery song definitely has an excellent sound. 4.THE INC.-This is quite a dull song and the music is nothing great. 1. Pain Is Love (Skit) - This track is just an intro to the song, it is just over 1minute long and not really too interesting.
2. Dial M For Murder - A good impact on the start of the album but nothing too memorable or special. This is the first actual song on the album after the intro and it isn't that catchy, but this is a constant rapping track which is listenable.
3. Livin It Up - This is where the album really starts! ... ...either.
15. So Much Pain - This track features 2Pacs voice, it really is a JaRule and 2pac stylish track but JaRule did recieve a lot of stick for this song. This song is listenable and interesting but not that great. I enjoy listening to it though and it does remind me of 2Pacs style of music (Which I also adore!!!)

Advantages: Ja Rule's scratchy vocals are neutralized by feminine backing vocals. Disadvantages: Fans of Venni Vetti Vecci will be gravely disappointed. Ja Rule tries to represent the hip hop spectrum in one album.Great features but "Pop Rap" is best appreciated in small doses!
...approval of hip-hop fans. In Pain is Love, the next step form Rule 3:36, Ja Rule adopts the same approach to his music as we saw in Put It On Me. Mixing his low tone vocals with female pop vocals behind a up-tempo rhythm. The album is in great contrast with that of Venni Vetti Vecci and fans that loved that album will be extremely disappointed with what Ja Rule done with the songs on this album. Fans of Rule 3:36 will be able to appreciate the album ... ...taken from a song called Pain on the Grid’ Locked soundtrack. Before this song was released, critics were already blasting Ja Rule that he was bastardising Pac’s rapping technique too much. To release a song with Pac’s voice sampled only proved these pundits to be correct. The song is good despite the awful chorus and Ja Rule makes the most of his ability to emulate 2Pac’s style.
