Music with space and time to breathe, at last a new band who don`t jump on the mass produced band wagon. Nice guitar work contrasting and combining acoustic and electric guitar ,effective keyboard work, sensitive and diverse drumming and what a distinctive voice..wow
Complex time signatures too showing they do know what they are talking about, well done guys.
Unlike most people I guess I actually prefer some of the tracks that have not been released as singles yet in fact "Yellow" must be one of my least favourites, although I still have a soft spot for "Trouble"
These songs are well constructed demonstrating good use of instrumental texture, effects, melodic lines, riffs and lyrical content.
"Sparks" certainly but more of the spiritual kind. This piece written in 6/8 time by the sound of it, is simple, gentle and all round relaxing. Again here is a song with room to breathe instruments/sounds/texture used where it is needed.What a nice bass line as well, makes me think of an empty ball room after a party when you feel sleepy and tired..lovely
Guess the trouble with "Trouble" is any one who has a keyboard or piano who likes this song has worked out the opening riff!!I certainly know a few who have..me included but that just shows how effective simplicity can be.
"Parachutes" contains one of my favourite sounds, the sound of fingers sliding on a fret board, may be I`m just weird that way. Short but sweet, shame it wasn`t developed.
"Everythings not lost" nice intro on piano giving a jazz/blues feel that could have possibly been developed more along this vein but it is pulled around again more into the "Coldplay" style but maybe this track could have shown a little more diversity.
All in all as a debut album this shows potential, I look forward to another hoping the space and texture remain but may be with a broader style base. Have a listen, give it a couple of plays through, take it in and appreciate the emptiness, its a refreshing change.

You're right..this release really creeps up on you but I see them as more in the vein of Jeff Buckley without the grandoise overproduction. Another reviewer thought the band they resembled AMC mixed with Radiohead; I see the Fake Plastic Trees with Mark Eitzel correlation but I see them more like a better Grant Lee Buffalo. Anyway, I like the spiderweb metaphors and the spare but lush instrumentation and emphasis on melody and songwriting, something you don't get too often in the pop music environment nowadays.

Advantages: Strong and interesting lyrics. Some very good songs. Disadvantages: Don't listen if you are feeling depressed. Basic booklet no lyrics just a few photos
Advantages: It has some instantly catchy simple tunes Disadvantages: The media is soon going to get bored of them, and then it will become uncool to like them, shame
