The early 1990's saw Seattle's Grunge scene pretty much take over the world. The Happy Mondays, Stone Roses and Inspiral Carpets had died a death and Nirvana and Pearl Jam amongst others took lined up to take the pocket money of British youths. Something had to reverse the trend - up stepped four lads from Essex with an album synonomous of generation. Blur's Parklife was the sound of the English layabout striking back, great tracks include the title track "Parklife" with the lads backed up with cockney rap from Phil Daniels, "Boys and Girl" and "End of the Century" to name but a few. This album paved the way for a whole generation of British guitar music, for which, I for one, owe a debt of gratitude.
